Unbelievable!!!! I rode both horses today!!!

I know this is no big deal for lots of folks but I have a crazy job 50-60+ hours per week. Have the horses at home and do all the work. And do a lot of other stuff to as Mr. Mukluk is currently unable to (back surgery coming up). Anyway I was able to ride my horse AND Mr. Mukluks horse today. Just threw on bareback pad and rode each for about 10-15 minutes in our little turn out area. I got two NICE flying changes on my mare. Mr. Mukluk hasn’t been able to ride for awhile and his horse has just been sitting. But he was a great citizen. Walk, trot, canter it was really fun. So nice to have two horses who are so fun to ride!!!

yippeee!!! It is that time of year and I have gone from no riding (wrist surgery in January) to riding every single day over the past five weeks. I work full time and do all my own work with horses at home but heck, 50-60 hrs per week… you go gurrrl!!!

And my horses are out 24/7 unless weather is hideous, and are out on lots of hills so baseline fitness is super. Nice to bring them back when they are “pasture fit.” Wofford says that horses turned out in large areas 24/7 are comparable to those on limited turnout who get 1 hour walking/hack out daily.

Yay. And inspiring. Footing is crap here but soon I hope. Soon!

Awesome. It’s a good feeling.

Good for you!! It is tough when you work a lot of hours.

Not counting today…I’ve done over 30 hours this week already. This end of the quarter has been brutal. I’ve been running about 65+ hours a week for the past two months…and it really sucks.

It is really hard to get in the riding and everything else…so be happy when you manage it. I see everyone around me getting ready to compete or competing and I’m just happy if I manage to ride.

BFNE, you do have to work a ton to support your wonderful facility and horses! So when will you be out there again? I rode with Jimmy yesterday and thought of you, since he now comes to your barn. Hope you are revving up for a great season!

Well I’m there pretty much every day, just don’t have time to ride. Went to the barn right from work (left the office after 7pm), got there in the dark and finished a conference call which killed any chance I had to ride. Lunged the young horse so he doesn’t go feral on me. Soaked my other guy and wrapped his foot as he is fighting an abcess. Need to get over that so I can actually ride with Jimmy next week! Did night barns to tuck in the horses in the barn. Had a minor crisis with one wash stall and spent some time playing plumber. Just got home. Forget dinner, having some hot coco instead and going to bed. Oh the glamour life:).

I got both of mine ridden today. Friend and I rode out around the farm with the dogs. I rode my old mare because I knew the footing might be iffy in the woods( several muddy ditches). Got in a little trotting. Went out to lunch with friend and then back to the barn and rode my young mare in the ring and around the barn. BO was trimming shrubs around the house and popping out of the bushes, flag flapping and horses in the other pastures running around. She was great other than one flinch when BO first popped up out of the bushes. Need to get her going a little more because she kind of was on the back burner with the yucky weather and bad footing this winter. She got ridden, but mostly in the ring and on the driveway.

Thanks everyone!!! It really is a struggle to have to work so much plus everything else. I am really trying to fit in more riding. Tomorrow I am going on a trail ride with the horseman’s group in my community and then doing a short lesson (flatwork and small jumps). Next friday I am going to have a dressage lesson- been a long time. We have a monthly dressage show where I live and I am going to start out with…… Intro C!!! If possible, I’m going to try to do this with Mr. Mukluks horse also (he’s a better mover and unlike my mare, does not stick his tongue out constantly so the judges will like him better). I can’t wait until I can retire/win the lottery/somehow get a less crazy job.
