I always find it interesting to go back and look at old derby runners and see what they’re up to now. SOme are Stallions but others have fallen completely off the map
What happened to Uncle Sigh?

How about some updates on these 2014 derby contenders:
Commanding Curve: Was 2nd in the Derby to California Chrome.
Samraat: 2014 Derby 5th Place
General A Rod: Raced at 4 but nothing since?
Candy Boy: Candy Ride son that was 13th in the Derby 2014
Harrys Holiday: Owned by the same group who bought Candy Boy.
Vinceremos: Was claimed at Saratoga in 2015, any updates since?
2013 Contenders since fell off the map:
Golden Soul (2nd in Derby and 3rd in Louisville at 5)
Mylute: 5th in the Derby and raced until 5
Helene Super Star: Went to Hong Kong in 2014??
Giant FInish: 10th in the derby.
Javas War: 13th in the derby
Vyjack: Into Mischief colt raced through 5 yr
Falling Sky: Last in the derby but was still winning at impressively at 5. Sired by Lion Heart
Equibase is your friend. Most are still in training.
Uncle Sigh raced just over a week ago at Aqueduct in an AOC where he finished 2nd.
Commanding Curve last raced in March (well beaten in an AOC) and has been on the regular work tab, even posting a work today.
Samraat raced early in April in an AOC and just posted a work over the weekend.
Vyjack raced at Keeneland a couple weeks ago in an allowance race.
Mylute raced in the G3 Commonwealth Stakes at Keeneland in early April.
I don’t have time to look up all the rest… but you get the idea…
thanks!
Looked up some more for ya over my lunch break…
General A Rod raced in the G3 Ben Ali Stakes at Keeneland 4/16/16.
Candy Boy was sold to Dubai and raced in the Dubai World Cup earlier this year. (how did I forget that?)
Harrys Holiday last started in an AOC at Turfway in December. No works posted since. He could be on vacation or he could be retired.
Vinceremos last started at Saratoga in August with no works since. (you already knew that)
Golden Soul is now in training with South Africa’s Mike De Kock (still owned by Fipke) and also ran at the Dubai World Cup Carnival in March.
Vyjack finished first in an allowance at Keeneland a week or two ago. One mile on turf. Always like the Machmer Hall-bred ones.
Too bad most of the ones still racing successfully are geldings. these are the type we need to see carrying on the breed. Soundness and he ability to keep winning even as they age.
My husband was stabled next to Mylute at Keeneland and loved him. Would send me pictures all the time. He’s even more handsome now than he was then. When my parents were up for a visit he took them to meet nyquist, but I made sure to mention Mylute too. As I figured, my mother was much more excited about him. She loves a gray. Lol.
There’s a cute article about American Pharoah in the New york Times this morning.
