Can someone please give me the run down on what the breeding values mean and how the come to the scores?
Also what is meant by riding type & limbs?? as this as straight forward as conformation and legs?
The Hanoverian breeding values are based on evaluation of mare performance tests and auction selection. The stallions must have at least 10 offspring for breeding values to be reached. They are based on a mean value of 100. Conformation as it applies to riding type, ie, saddle position, neck, head, frame. Correctness of legs is straight forward. Dressage and jumping ability is included as well. Every year the Hanoverian Verband publishes the Jahrbuch Hengst which has the breeding values for eligible stallions as well as the information on newly licensed/approved stallions.
