Hi, I haven’t been to the western posts on COTH yet, being a hunter/dressage rider. A few years ago, a friend had severe financial troubles, had a western saddle she sold me to pay rent. What is it?!?!?! It says “Timber Ridge 16”. How can I measure a western saddle for size? And how can I get more info? I have pictures, but I am not sure how to attach them. THANKS!!!
You measure for size on western saddles from the base of the horn to the front of the cantle.
16" is a good sized adult saddle.
Not familiar with the brand.
Is it tooled, what kind of skirts, swells, horn, cantle?
Pictures would help.
You can post pictures directly on your post if you pay $20 a year and become a premium member, or upload them on some picture holding web site like photoshop and put the link to your pictures there in your post.
Not sure, but that looks like a stamped oak pattern, not hand tooled.
May have meant to be playday type saddle, with that color, maybe?
Have not seen that cantle finish before.
Mother Hubbard single skirts for lightness.
Others may know more, sorry.
Very pretty, although, the placement of the flank girth billet is more forward than I am use to seeing.
Thanks

It looks like an inexpensive Mexican-made saddle. It is stamped, the leather finish, the way the stirrup leathers extend from the fenders, and the stirrups themselves — it’s just what it looks like. The leather quality may be poor. If it has roller buckles rather than Blevins, that is another sign that it is inexpensively made.
I hope you paid less than 200 for that.

Then you’ll be very happy to know I didn’t, plus it was to help a friend.
whew. good news.
yes, inexpensive mexican or India made… not worth much… but very nice of you to help a friend!!
Looks like they are on Facebook?

Can’t see the stamp close-up in their pictures, but they look similar. The Facebook page says Wyoming (whether she just sells them, or actually makes them)
Either way, I agree it looks to be a cheaply made saddle. Yours looks to be a barrel racing version.
Thanks Beau, yes it does say “Made in USA” and I found out they are custom saddles:-) There’s a lot of feedback about them adjusting them too.
