Unstable...The T.V. show

What the heck is going on there?? I caught about 15 minutes of this T.V. show last night and it was like watching a bad slo mo train wreck! I assumed it was yet another bad horse themed TV show but it appears to be an actual barn? A reality show at Wendigo Farms in Ontario? I assumed it could not be a real barn but apparently it is???

Constant fighting on the part of the trainer, business partner and barn manager. Like a COTH thread come to life!

Anyone see it? Anyone know what they hope to accomplish with this? Other than scare away potential customers!

Haven’t heard of it. When did it start?

Oh my gosh…no, but they stole my idea. I just moved from a barn that was “unstable”, lots of sorority drama with the BO, BM, and one of the workers…we often joked that they could make easy money if they brought a camera crew in and set up a reality TV show…I thought the name of the show should be “THE UNSTABLE WOMEN OF XXXXX COUNTY”

Yes, it is a real barn! I taped it and I have not watched it, but even before the show was aired, after just seeing the trailer, there were so many things that were criticized!!

From the comments on this thread http://www.equiman.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=213869#Post213869, I doubt it will have a good impact on the barn!

It was on CMT (Country Music Television) last night at about 10:30. I suppose they are hoping to make money on the TV show instead of actual horse business as I assume anyone who saw the show would give them a wide berth! Yikes!

I’ve never heard of it. What channel is it on?

Would love to watch!

I will have to look for it, most horse TV shows keep my interest for about 2 minutes…As they get so dumb! Why don’t they do a good one again like Horse Power…That is a positive spin on our world…From the sounds of it I hope not to many new horse people see this!

My 11 year old daughter shows ponies in A & AA shows and loves Horsepower! She has the DVD’s and regularly watches it over & over on her computer. She and a friend from our barn had their picture made with Maggie McAlary, like she was famous. They were SO EXCITED! I wish they would do another season, but it probably has limited appeal to non-horsey people.

Unbelievable–the BM, BO and the “professional” seem to be clueless about running a business or taking care of horses. They don’t investigate the condition of the outdoor arena before buying the place, jump without a helmet, leave gates open, turn out stallions next to mares and don’t show up to feed/muck out until 11 in the morning.

I told my BO she had to watch it because it would put all her struggles and issues in perspective!

what an absolute crapfest…didn’t really show anything regarding horses, just the fighting between the "trainer (& I say that loosly), the seemingly spoilt co-owner & the “barn manager” (again said very very loosly)…supposidly this “barn manager” has worked for “Olympians”, yet seems to have NO work ethic whatsoever! whines constantly, beotches when the “pro/trainer” (although there are NO clients) hires somebody to work with her and then calls the other coowner behind “pro/trainers” back…nope, not somewhere where I’d be keeping my horse, but quite the crapfest/trainwreck to pass away an hour with a martini in hand!!!

Yeah…I don’t watch much t.v…and when I do, I make a point not to watch ‘reality’ shows. A college friend on my facebook sent me an invite to favorite the show, and to watch it. I clicked the nay button (my facebook is set to pirate) and forgot about it…until recently when, with some digging I realized she’s become the new barn manager… :o

Friend is an awesome person, super hard worker and a great rider - so I really hope this show doesn’t harm her reputation or anything. I haven’t seen it, and really don’t want to by the previews…but I’m hoping for the best for college buddy though.

My favourite “horse show” is still Man Tracker!

I posted on equiman earlier, I’m still shaking my head over this show
I even know the “trainer” and “barn manager” but I’m going to agree with eclipse on this one - alcoholic beverages are definitely in order for any future viewing

Anyone know if this is on for all CMT, or just in Canada? I am dying to watch it now!

Yep as already mentioned it does indeed exist…the farm is located about 20 minutes north of me. And its really called Wendigo and the characters are real. I have not seen it yet myself but am not terribly interested anyway…

I understand that the production costs were at least in part financed by the Goutals, so unless another parent is willing to underwrite the costs of another season, it probably won’t happen.

Interesting. Maybe Steven Speilberg could do it. I’m sure he has the connections & money to make it happen. But I don’t think his daughter is riding in the Big Eq yet because she is still fairly young. But maybe there’s a chance. If my daughter thought it would help she would write a letter to him.

I just did a search for this show on CMT.com and found nothing -
