"unusual" freestyles..

you know, the type that doesn’t have your usual classical or elevator type music. It seems that they’ve been getting a bit more original lately. I particularly liked Debbie McD’s freestyle with Brentina with “RESPECT” and “Brickhouse” with vocal effects… that was 2 years ago?
Any others like that? I remember hearing one with Techno a while ago.

I was just musing, especially after seeing the dog freestyle on Off Course.
I for one have always thought it would be hilarious to go down centerline to ZZTop.

Saw video of a winning Training Level (Junior) freestyle - very nicely done. Girl (maybe 10 yrs old?)l on leopard POA, done entirely to the theme from the Pink Panther. TOOOOOOO cute.

I’d like to use some bluegrass (e.g. soundtrack from The Long Riders) if I ever get around to creating/having one created.

Anyone with links to video of “different” freestyles? I always get a kick out of a good freestyle with music that’s out of the ordinary . . .

This might be “unusual”- check out the techno trot music. Its euro-trash-fabulous!

I have a horse that I would love to do a freestyle with to Justin Timberlakes SexyBack. The song is a parody of sorts… but it suits this horse to a T. I am sure I would get a whole bunch of 1’s… it’s kinda trashy  but boy would it be fun.

“I’m bringing sexy back… those other boys don’t know how to act!”

That is the band Bond and I believe that song is “Sahara”… or one of those off the “Shine” LP.
The intro music that is… canter is also Bond…

We had an entrant at our show who did her freestyle to Mardi Gras music. Great idea!

A couple of friends of mine are putting together a Pas de Deux that has a bunch of hip-hop/rap in it. They’re not expecting a warm reception from the judges, but they are gonna have fun doing it!

How about that song, “I’m Too Sexy”! That would be so good for a super funky freestyle!!

I saw this a couple of months ago and it stuck in my head. Pirates of the Carribean:

I named my Arab colt Kashmir after the Zepplin song, so I would love to do one to that song with him. In several years of course, as he is still a youngin.

My mare is Lucy Diamond, so I always thought it would be cute to do one to “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds”.

Regent’s music was “Gypsy” by bond - I’m actually doing a musical using that music this year. Bond is fabulous kur music! Traditional in that its based on classical, but it has that electric, modern, dance music feel that I personally prefer. Judges seem to like it.

Edward Gal uses trance music too.

I need to find myself a really big mare, just to use “Fat Bottomed Girls” by Queen. I think it should make pretty good canter music.

Its euro-trash-fabulous!

ROFLMAO Sorry just loved that statement :lol::lol:

Can you do part of it to “Baby got Back?”

I’ve seen that one and really like it. I also saw one were a girl used “Isla Bonita” by Madonna. It was very good. I’d like to use “Rythym Divine” by Enrique Iglasias.

I’m debuting my Billy Joel themed 2nd level freestyle this weekend. I’ll try and get someone to tape it.

Yep, Only The Die Young is my trot, and Big Shot is my canter. My guy thinks he’s all bad and it’s all about him, so it fits.

does anyone recall the “Gost Busters” free style? (showing my age - it must have been 10 years ago…) what an entrance!

I have plans for doing a freestyle to that at whatever level my Percheron tops out at. Hopefully its at least at I2 so I can do a piaffe with our backs to the judges.

That reminded me of this PoC reining freestyle-

If you want to get wacky ideas for dressage freestyles, just take a look at youth reining competitions! I think we should have an equal opportunity at costumes

Costumes would be a hoot

That video was a riot! My daughter would love it – she’s always walking around and saying, “Do you fear DEATH-TH?”

I wanna do one to swing music and stuff – like Mac the Knife, Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, stuff like that

Actually, though, I really want to do one to Weird Al’s “White & Nerdy”. 'Cause my horse is white and I’m a nerd
