We’re thinking about doing a little camping somewhere near I-24 and Lookout Mountain in TN. Could be private or in a state or national park. We just don’t know that area and where is nice for horse camping. We would like to stay relatively close to I-24. There may not be any place, but just checking to see if anyone knows one. Google is failing me. Thanks!
No personal experience, but a horsecamping friend loved Big South Fork. 2h from Chattanooga.
FWIW: her idea of riding trails meant 8-9h with a lunch break.
We changed to Murfreesboro area for overnight horse camping or stabling. I think it’s still close enough to trails and we have other business there. Does anyone know of any overnight boarding or camping in that area, close to I-24?
How many horses are you looking to board?
Cedars of Lebanon State Park comes to mind, but I’m not sure they have horse camping. They have people camping. They have riding trails and even a stable that rents horses. But I’m not sure you can camp there with horses. It wouldn’t hurt to ask if you want to call the state park information number.
Edited to add: it looks like there is overnight boarding at Fall Creek Falls, too. I think it’s the same group that does the horses at both parks?https://www.fallcreekfallsridingstables.com/services
Go to Pick TN Products https://www.picktnproducts.org/ click on fun and education at the top then equine on the side bar. It will give you info on stabling and overnight camping areas. I saw two stabling areas in Shelbyville. Close to Murfreesboro.
You guys are awesome! Thank you.
Cedars of Lebanon is a ratty little park.
Clearview is a lovely facility if that’s not too far for you.
