-Update. Mongolian Humor tp run Sunday in Bayakoa at Los Alamitos

I’m not on twitter either, yet it still plays the video for me.

Worked for me too…nice job. Second by a head bob while still closing that fast is quite a good result. Lots of race folk like to see that kind of try in a horse almost as much as as a win, maybe as much in a young, nice looking, well bred mare.

Is she running next year?

Apparently you had the sense to click on the correct part of the link.

Great race! She doesn’t give up!

Running again this weekend and could use some COTH good luck vibes.
Sunday at Los Alamitos in the Bayakoa stakes. The field came up a bit tough.
I am hoping for no rain!
Here is a link to her workout video from 2 weeks ago. (Just having some fun with this, hopefully not boring everyone to death)

Looks like she did that pretty easy. I like how she had her eye on her workmate all the way down the stretch. She is a big girl!

Nice workout. Best of luck on Sunday!

One of the things I like most about this board is hearing about other members horses.
if I were you I would be so proud, lovely horse!

No fear of boring us! I’m happy for you and enjoy having your filly to root for. Good luck.

@jolise Chance of rain is very slight. Good luck!

FWIW, Bayokoa S at Los Al, Race 8 at 3:58pm Pacific Time.

Good luck. Track yesterday sure looked sloppy to me on TVG but still stayed Good. Hope PP 2 isn’t a problem for her. Did seem like the rail was a bit deeper than further out.

I’ll be watching her!!! Good luck!

Thank you for the good luck wishes. Track is still a little muddy. Would prefer to be further out from the rail, but hopefully the jock will work out a good trip from the inside. A lot of speed in the race. Los Alamitos plays funny. With her running style, don’t want to go with all that speed but it can be tough to close there from too far back. But, will leave all that to the trainer and jockey to worry about and have myself a good, stiff drink before the race.

Probably a good strategy

Inside at Los Al can also be tough as those turns can be tight for some horses.

I’ll be watching from soggy Phoenix

@jolise watched the race. Seemed like maybe the track conditions just didn’t agree with your girl? Did she come back ok?

Bummed to hear Joe T (saw the TVG interview with him by Christina Blacker) will be leaving the So Cal colony for LA and KY. I’ve always thought he was a decent jock.

Well, that could have gone better. Looked like she came back ok. Trainer had said that she doesn’t like the mud, and was on the fence all day about running. Definitely not a mudder, might be better going shorter and with an easier group. Just glad she came home ok. The winner is a really nice mare–Queen Bee to You–looked fantastic.
Yes, bummer that Joe is leaving SoCal. A lot of trainers and jockeys seem to be headed out of town. I really hope Santa Anita can turn it around this winter/spring.

Part of it is the horse shortage but all of the jocks who left or are leaving have personal reasons to do so. It looks like Talamo lost the Baffert barn since the last time he rode for him was Mucho Gusto in September. Then Talamo went about a month without a win until yesterday. He needs to be in a less competitive colony. Garcia lost the Baffert barn years ago and he was turning into a once a month winner whose effectiveness has been declining since 2014. He hasn’t set the world on fire in Kentucky either. Then there is Desormeaux who has burned I don’t know how many bridges and recently has been relying on his brother heavily to support his career. He hasn’t had a win since he left California over a month ago.

So I think that while they are a symptom of California’s issues, they are also exploiting the fact that none of them have been successful now for awhile and at least with regards to Garcia and Desormeaux, they don’t seem to be that much more successful in Kentucky or Louisiana. We’ll see if Talamo can turn it around in Arkansas.

That’s interesting about the jockeys. Does it sometimes happen that their riding becomes not as good as it used to be? I’m thinking about Calvin Borel and how he was on top for a while…riding some Derby winners and Rachel Alexandra. You don’t hear much about him anymore.

Pronzini, IIRC after the interview that Christina Blacker did with Joe T, that there was some comment that Joe was hot a few years ago but that has tapered off and that was probably part of his decision to move from CA to LA/KY.

Will be interesting to see how successful he will be.

CA sure does have some new hot riders… Abel Cedillo (sp?) for one comes to my mind.

CA has always been pretty deep.

We all loose something with age and that’s a really physically demanding career. You will note as even the superstars get older, they generally reduce the mount count and stick to bigger purses so they don’t have to ride so many. Eventually even they lose out to the up and comers still young, strong and with lesser chronic pain from a long list of old injuries. Nerve comes into it as well, get hurt enough, stop wanting to stick your horses head in that hole.

Sad to say substance abuse that gets started trying to make the weight or for the usual reasons has dogged some and effects their reliability and skills. It’s no secret which ones and they struggle to get rides or depend on relatives. Trainers can only give them so many chances.
