Update-my horse's tail is gone now.
oh crap. You beat me to it. lol.
::snort:: I should enter a schooling show with that name.

Oh nos! I just saw your post on FB too. But so glad that Ollie has someone like you who is both caring AND has a fantastic sense of humor  I think you could have some fun with this… Plus, don’t you get, like, tons of sympathy points in Dressage for amputations?? If not, that should happen

Right??? But, on the flip side, the lack of tail will make our poor dressage even more apparent in the hind end. LOL.

BUT LOOK AT THE CUTE BUTT.

And who wants to see tumor photos?? It’s hard to tell here how massive the lump is, but it’s truly ginormous. The red ouchy spot is where poor dude has been rubbing it.

They make fake tails with a wrap around top for horses with really bad tails (like appies), so as long as he has some dock you could attach a fake tail.

There’s the cutest large pony with no tail that goes to some of the hunter shows around here. It has literally NO tail, not even a nub. Apparently someone wrapped it’s tail too tight and the whole tail died and fell off  He does quite well, I’ve never noticed his placings affected by his lack of tail.
Well, it’s scheduled. He gets dropped off on Thursday next week. Just spoke to Dr. Honnas again, and he thinks that part of the dock will remain- so eventually, he will grow out some tail from the remaining hairs and have a thin little tail. WIth Ollie Pants being drafty, I have full confidence that his body will go into OMG GROW HAIR mode.

But until then? OBNOXIOUS BOW TIME.
We’ll be jingling that Ollie gets to keep some tail
You are doing awesome

Wasn’t there a poster who tried a new injection for melanoma near the eye, and she had good results and posted progress pictures?
It’s worth searching the the threads for. This was in the last 6 months iirc.
Ahh, here it is
http://www.chronofhorse.com/forum/showthread.php?427176-Melanoma-Oncept-September-2014-update-Post-56&highlight=Melanoma

Unfortunately, it’s not a melanoma , it’s a fibrosarcoma. Or maybe something even worse now. So, different makeup, more sinister. And faster-growing.

Thank you! This thread would not have been complete without monster nubbin photos. And he’ll look so cute with a draft horse bow!

So tomorrow is the day he gets dropped off for his surgery :frowning: They won’t actually do the surgery until Friday. So I won’t even be able to stay and be there, since it’s a 3.5 hour drive, and I don’t have my own truck/trailer - we’re doing it as a day trip :frowning: Unless I drive separately and get a hotel room, but finances are super tight as it is right now. He’ll be staying there 3 to 7 days, depending on how he does and how his tail is healing, so I’ll have to be back up there early next week, more than likely.

Anyway, I’m all worried about him, and hate not being there for the procedure itself.

Jingles for your boy!

He will be fine. Think positive and leave him with a big bag of treats.

He’s got a good mom

Jingles for a speedy recovery!

Good luck with your guy!

Sending lots of positive thoughts your way!

It sounds as if he is in good hands.

Try not to worry! Wishing you and Ollie the best luck!

Heh why not start another topic with location in the title & ask if anyone’s in the area - I’d offer you room (& board) if I wasn’t in the wrong country

I know that both you & Ollie will feel so much better if you can be there more

He’s going to do just fine either way!

(it’s too bad that vet clinics don’t have those patient-family rooms like people hospitals)

Thanks for all the kind thoughts. Well, he’s dropped off. Within two minutes of being in his pen, he was hitting the fencing asking for hay. Oh Ollie.

Surgery likely tomorrow.

That’s quite the bump, so glad he sounds like he’s in good hands.

You should make him a giant Eeyore tail to pin on his butt

Big draft size jingles for Ollie. Hope the surgery goes well.

P.

Hoping for a speedy recovery for you guys!

I think he’s going to look really good, actually. I think polo ponies look so smart with their tails tied up and one of my very favorite GP horses of all time had a tail-stub as well. I sadly have been unable to find a picture to share, but don’t despair! He’s still going to be fabulous and I think he’ll look really nice. The short tail will actually showcase his impressive badonkadonk!
