It could be the Metacam. Jingling away for Shade.
Took her in and something is def not right. It could be several things at this point. The vet took blood, gave IV fluids, 2 shots for nausea, 2 week antibiotic shot and a shot of pain killer.
We will get blood results in the morning and may have to bring her back to be admitted.
Worst case is they have to open her up again to see what is going on inside
So sorry to hear With the infection being with her for a long time, its possible that she was septic before surgery but there were no signs of it. I would get her in for an ultrasound sooner rather than later. Jingles for poor shade.
More jingles for Shade… may the shots work the needed magic on her.
I expect they told you to watch her very carefully and hurry her in if she starts fading?
Sepsis is a cascade of metabolic events that can progress very fast and is very hard to stop, generally a possible complication of any pyometra, which is still her primary diagnosis, I think.
Hoping all resolves well, time that she is holding up really in her favor, letting her own system get ahead bit by bit.

Meggie has her Bentley going too and the Corgis send kisses and arooooos
Thanks guy.
Yes she is under close observation and will be rushed back if needed. The kennel stay is very hard on her, it is better to be resting at home. He gave her everything he could and she will most likely be backin tomorrow. I will be getting a urine sample first thing in the morning to check her kidneys.
I am still hoping that she can fight this. I bought her some Fresh Pet Select dog food. Hopefully it will tempt her more than the food the vet gave us.

just a word of caution, I wouldn’t feed her after 10pm. If they do decide to do surgery tomorrow you want her belly empty.
Thanks threedogpack, she is still not interested in food. The meds given today have made her very groggy.
My other dog finally gave in and ate something for me. Shade is the alpha dog and Dyna wont eat first and won
t touch food if Shade won`t. The Fresh Pet Select looks and smells goodenough for people to eat. I bet it would be better for you then hotdogs lol!
When I can’t get mine to eat anything else, they’ll usually go for either canned cat food (smellier the better) or canned tuna mixed into a bowl of rice (although maybe this works best for South Carolina dogs:)).
I hope she improves; if you find anything that she’ll eat make it soupy…
crud.
I also wouldnt force her to eat if she is really not interested. Dogs can go longer than cats without eating without having side effects. Sometimes if you keep offering them food frequently and they feel ill, they can develop a food adversion.
Hold off until midnight or so, then see if you can offer her a small piece of chicken or something tasty. If she doesnt want it, take it away and dont offer anything again until morning.
Hopefully she wont need surgery again, and that the bloodwork will come back clear of sepsis. However, often times you will pick it up with a belly ultrasound before it shows up in the bloodwork.
Jingles for Shade!
I know when they are not right, it is like your guts are being pulled out!

OP, how is Shade, has she eaten anything?
Continued jingles for Shade. Prayers too.
Oh boy last night I was sure she was failing on me. She wouldn’t eat anything I tried with her, wasn’t drinking at all and wouldn’t walk. Could not get her out of the house without lifting her and she just wanted to be held.
This morning is a little bit better. She is up and drinking and looking for attention. Offered her the smelly wet cat food and still nothing. I am not trying to force the issue at all, just giving her a chance to take something - anything at this point. She did vomit last night and once this morning and that is with 2 different anti-nausea drugs in her system. This morning she drank half a bowl of water and some of it came back up.
I got the urine sample this morning and it doesn’t look or smell wierd. No blood, not dehydrated, but a little cloudy. I will be getting it tested today.
She has lost weight 38.6 down to 35.8 in two days. So she has 6lbs in the last couple of days since being discharged from the vet.
Still no fevers
Jingles!!!
Spoke to the vet, Shade`s kidneys are failing. I am bringing her back in to be admitted.
It breaks my heart that she may be spending her last hours at the vet. I wish I could stay there with her.
Dang. I’m sorry. YOu’re on my mind today.
