I would like a pair (or 2) of denim breeches to wear at shows when I’m not riding much but coaching a lot. They need to have structure (not a jegging), at least a mid rise and an updated color (not just dark denim). Anyone have any recomendations?
I feel like denim.breeches had a moment recently. Since fit is personal I’d suggest go to the brand and model that works for you in other breeches and see if they are doing denim. I think it’s mostly dark blue denim out there. Mine are BVertigo dark denim with full seat silicon grips.
I’m a fan of the Goode Rider Equestrian Jean - they fit me well and my last pair is many years old. I just bought a new pair.
On the other hand, the Goode Rider Vogue denim breeches have a number of snags on them, and don’t fit me as well.
I haven’t tried the Cargo Jeans or the Posh Jeans breeches yet.
I have a pair of Piper full seat breeches that are a couple of years old and while smartpak said to size up, I needed to size up more. At the time I think I was a 30 in most of my breeches (including other pipers) and a 32 in ariat and I got the pipers in 34 and they were still the tightest breeches I owned…
They otherwise seemed nice enough and I liked the shade of denim. It turns out that aesthetically I prefer denim breeches with knee patches that are brown and basically give the appearance of faux leather. And the pipers had faux suede that was a lighter shade of blue.
So, if you have very strong opinions about how you want your denim breeches to look, figure out what those are and as much as possible try them on in person because I did not expect to have opinions as strong as I did.
I have a pair from LeMieux. (Silicon full seat.) The quality is good, but I would say they are rather generously sized.
I have had Horze ones in the past that I really liked to the extent that I completely wore them out. I must keep my eyes open for another pair.
Thank you! I do want brown knee patches!
I love the Horze Kaia denim breeches. They come in light and dark denim and I have a pair of each. Nice weight for summer but not too thin- just right amount of tackiness with the tiny silicone bit design on backend.
I like the Goode Rider Vogue full seat. Bonus is they have back pockets. I can carry a phone around the barn in them. I can’t carry the phone in them to ride. But better than nothing. If you dig around you can get them in colors other than blue denim. I have seen black, burgundy, taupe, fire engine red (ugly). Over the years. I think they run a little small.
I haven’t tried the others mentioned here but I just got the FITS denim breeches and absolutely love them. They also have a phone pocket on the thigh which I was looking for.
