I was trying to update a thread I started a few weeks ago, but was unable to find the “go advanced” option under “edit.”

No need to “go advanced” anymore 
You can edit the thread title from the main edit screen. It’s just above the message body.
Aha! Well that’s handy, thanks Do you just then “post” and it automatically updates the thread title and posts it?
