Perhaps the Buckpasser-Turn-To cross is a bit like the Princequillo-Nasrullah cross in calming temperament. Buckpasser was known for his gentlemanly temperament and for passing it on. Hand in Glove, who did all disciplines, including dressage, was Best Turn x Miss Betty x Buckpasser.

Any foal by #2 by Classic Endeavor would have at least as much, if not more, Buckpasser than Turn-To. And it would be closer.

I just did it, and the only double in five generations is to Buckpasser. http://www.racingaustralia.horse/FreeServices/PedigreeReport.aspx?RefNo=6054247
Hi Everyone, I have a fun update to share with you.
I didn’t end up purchasing any of the mares, two sold quite quickly to a stock horse breeder and “Inatin”, the mare with the pedigree deemed most suitable, sold only very recently however I didn’t like her that much in photos I saw, really don’t need another broodmare, and my friend let me know she’s a bit of a witch to deal with.
However… I did purchase an 11 month old gelding by this stallion! I went to see him on the weekend, fell in love, and brought him home. My friend really needs to downsize due to the sale of her property, so I had the chance to buy a lovely horse that wouldn’t otherwise have been for sale, for less than half the price of a performance horse stallion stud fee. This little guy is out of a quarter horse/stock horse mare, and buckskin! A few years back I would not have considered a horse with quarter horse in his bloodlines for eventing, however, a few years ago I traced the breeding of my 3* horse of “unknown breeding” and it turns out he is 1/8 Quarter Horse. My partner breeds quarter horses, for cutting, and some of his family’s lines are very fast, quick footed and light in front. With amazing temperaments. I do love a bit of hybrid vigour, all of my best eventers have been cross breds. My new little guy “Timone”'s dam was never broken in, however her sire was a very, very successful campdrafter, who also had AQHA points in every discipline from dressage to showing etc etc. He was appendix registered, so little Timone is at least 1/8 QH, maybe 1/4, and the rest from the dam side is stock horse, which can mean a hybrid of thoroughbred, pony, QH, etc. He was King Ranch bred, a Peppy Snake grandson, and his Quarter Horse lines actually do trace back through to Thoroughbreds such as Bold Venture.
He is expected to mature around 15.2 - 16h, perfect for me as I am very small and my (now retired) 3* horse is 15.1 on tippy toes! I am so impressed by his brain, he has hardly been handled at all, and I was able to catch him, pick up all his feet, and we loaded him on to the trailer within minutes with minimal fuss. He’s in a 1 acre paddock quarantining at the moment before he goes out with my other young horses and I am just loving the way he moves, and his general demeanor. If he doesn’t turn out to be a suitable eventer he is going to be a lovely all round horse I think! I have seen photos of a full brother who is 3, nearly 16hh and beautiful, apparently broke in very well. His dam has also produced two horses from a different TB sire who are playing polo, so they seem to be a very athletic family. Little Timone is seriously cute. Here’s a photo, he’s the buckskin: http://s1190.photobucket.com/user/somanyhorses/library/
I did see a few of Classic Endeavour’s get while I was down there looking at him, all were elegant and well proportioned. I’ve also found out that there is one out and about eventing at the lower levels and from what I’ve seen in photos, is a lovely type and is apparently a delightful sensible horse.
As for the old stallion, very sadly he was put down due to a kick to the head from a maiden mare while paddock serving, sadly resulting in a fractured skull.
Thanks for all your input on this stallion’s breeding, it was definitely in my mind as I went through the decision process of whether to take on another young horse!
He is adorable!!! Congrats and good luck with him
he is very cute… but i liked higlet! who is that?
All quarter horses trace back to thoroughbreds they are pretty much thoroughbreds with a touch of Spanish blood then breeding stock was cultivated for particular traits such as speed and agility but for cows not longer flat races. Quarter horses and appendix are extremely athletic. One of the most successful show jumpers in Brazil was an appendix affectionately known as papa car. Because he won a lot of cars. I think you’ll have great fun with your guy who should be quite handy as an eventer.
Thanks
Beowulf, Higlet is a filly I bred. She is by Higgins (Heraldik/For Pleasure) and out of Kibah Torch, who is by Brilliant Invader and out of a half sister on the dam side to the Olympic gold medalists Kibah Tic Toc and Kibah Sandstone. She has just turned 2. Her nickname Higlet the Piglet seems to have been replaced by The Bus as she is rather looonggg at the moment! She is bred to event, and we will see… She’s 15.3 at the moment and seems to have all the ingredients! I tried to repeat the breeding last year however Torch has us all baffled as to why she won’t take to AI anymore. I do have a foal due 2nd November out of the black mare (dam of Rambo in the albums), she herself has produced 2 FEI eventer sand various show jumpers, she is in foal to Higgins. Rambo is not yet 11 months and already 15.1… I seem to breed giants, Timone may well be my only sensible sized one!

I absolutely love the look of Higlet. Best of luck with her and keep us updated, she sounds incredible. I like the name too
