Upperville Photographer - 2 Months Later and Still No Photos?

Anyone know why photographs from Upperville are not yet available on Teresa Ramsey’s site, even though the show was nearly two months ago?

Would be one thing if all photographers were welcomed equally – but we had a friendly professional photographer there who was reluctant to take photos freely due to resentment by the official photographer.

Is this an ongoing issue or just a one-time thing?

you will not likely see them until closer to September. That’s when they appeared last year.

Can anyone say “Really”…I paid for One photograph at the horseshow…no photo as of yet…I will NEVER GIVE her another dime! RIDICOULOUS that this show continues to use her!

She and others photographers like her are the reason that “HORSE SHOW PHOTOGRAPHERS ARE FACING A CRISIS”.

Yes, it will be a while, for two reasons:

I talked to her at Warrenton Pony, and she told me she took about 15,000 pictures just at Upperville, and then shot Loudoun Benefit the following week, and then Warrenton Pony the week after. After shooting, she has to go through and edit them, and then make the low res images for uploading onto the website, and then upload them. That process is why she tries to get you to stop by her trailer at the show, where the proofs can be seen an hour after your division ends.

She is moving (my friend is buying her farm) in early August, so in addition to doing all the photography she has to pack up and move everything, which as I am sure we all know is a time-consuming process.

I ordered and paid for three pictures AT Upperville and still don’t have them. I’ve called three times and left pleasant messages asking for a return call. Nothing. I will NEVER do business with her again and am tempted to call the Better Business Bureau at this point. It’s terribly unprofessional. And yes, we are all busy. But it’s her JOB.

Thanks for the info at least. I was just about to look and see if they were up yet. Guess I’ll check back in a couple of months.

The Chronicle has posted an article about horse show photogs on their FB page. You should go comment there. There is a pretty good discussion going on.

Sounds as though the lady has a lot on her plate (computer???). HOWEVER…as an equine photographer who has done shows, there is no excuse for taking four months to get orders out. Even LESS excuse to not have show images up online so people CAN order two months after the show. And to not even have the professionalism to respond to phone or e-mail inquiries?

I hope for all competitors’ sakes that this is an unusual situation (in that other official show photographers are much more timely). We, as professionals, need to be aware of time limitations and schedule and/or delegate accordingly. As an experienced photographer (I don’t know her, but have seen her name), she KNOWS she cannot process 15,000 images in less than a week.

We show photographers have enough issues to deal with - issues we don’t have much or any control over (short of giving up the show contract). We do not need to invite more ill-will by not fulfilling our responsibilities.

This person always takes forever. Always has, and she is much faster in the digital age than she was when proofs had to be developed, cut, and mailed. On one hand, I agree…it is totally ridiculous…on the other hand, she is magical with a lens. So, it is what it is. But agree it is frustrating when two other very good photographers on the grounds had to sneak around so not to get seen shooting by said official photographer…one who did and got great images, emailed me photos TO MY OWN INBOX two days later

Extremely long lag time is par for the course with her.

I couldn’t find it! I’d be happy to throw my 2 cents in!

At least she took pictures of you, Heineken. My horse got a very nice ribbon at Upperville a couple of years ago and there was not one picture anywhere. There wasn’t even a picture of us getting our ribbon.

Sorry, I misspoke. A FB friend posted to the link that is on the COTH website, not their FB page. On FB, search for Ashley Martin Mason, and you can see the discussion.

There don’t appear to be any photos at all from the grass jumper ring, which is the only one my horse jumped in. Would love to have purchased a couple of photos. Very disappointing all around.

Also contact the horse show manager/organizer directly and complain to them. They can hire, and they can fire.

Yep, still waiting - for TWO shows now…

We’re in the same boat. My daughter was in the younger leadline class at Upperville AND Warrenton. The folders are on her site for the glorious day she decides to upload the proofs for Upperville, but there isn’t even that much up there yet for Warrenton. I at least got to see the proof from Warrenton on her trailer b/c I knew it would be a long time until I’d see anything online (Lexi won the Warrenton class, yay!) - but it would be nice if we could order something in time for the holidays for the grandparents.

If she’s too busy to do her job - maybe she shouldn’t be doing her job, or at least not signed up for so many shows so that she can take care of the photos she’s taken up to that point.

Um hello - I want to give you money, kinda impossible to do that if you don’t post your photos.

And people wonder and complain that non-show photographers are stealing their business…
