Yes, it will be a while, for two reasons:
I talked to her at Warrenton Pony, and she told me she took about 15,000 pictures just at Upperville, and then shot Loudoun Benefit the following week, and then Warrenton Pony the week after. After shooting, she has to go through and edit them, and then make the low res images for uploading onto the website, and then upload them. That process is why she tries to get you to stop by her trailer at the show, where the proofs can be seen an hour after your division ends.
She is moving (my friend is buying her farm) in early August, so in addition to doing all the photography she has to pack up and move everything, which as I am sure we all know is a time-consuming process.[/QUOTE]
Sounds as though the lady has a lot on her plate (computer???). HOWEVER…as an equine photographer who has done shows, there is no excuse for taking four months to get orders out. Even LESS excuse to not have show images up online so people CAN order two months after the show. And to not even have the professionalism to respond to phone or e-mail inquiries?
I hope for all competitors’ sakes that this is an unusual situation (in that other official show photographers are much more timely). We, as professionals, need to be aware of time limitations and schedule and/or delegate accordingly. As an experienced photographer (I don’t know her, but have seen her name), she KNOWS she cannot process 15,000 images in less than a week.
We show photographers have enough issues to deal with - issues we don’t have much or any control over (short of giving up the show contract). We do not need to invite more ill-will by not fulfilling our responsibilities.
