US born jockey leading the money earned title?

Rosie is almost guaranteed to win the title for the Fair Grounds Winter meet [Nov 22 - Mar 31].

With less than 20-days left in the meet, Rosie Napravnik has just about wrapped up her third straight Fair Grounds riding title. Through Monday, Napravnik had a 35-win lead, 100-65, over second-place James Graham.

Add to that March 12, 2013 - Octagon to Market Top Thoroughbred Racing Jockey Rosie Napravnik

Big props - although a bit of an expected victory - for Rosie to fly out to Santa Anita today (Mar 16th) to win the 76th running of the Grade 1 Santa Margarita Stakes with Joyful Victory for trainer Larry Jones and owner Rick Porter.

She still paid an “ok” $4.20 for the win  Joyful Victory is now a millionaire mare.

San Diego Union Tribune 3-16-13: “Rosie Napravnik continues her winning ways at Santa Anita” - trainer Larry Jones

“You can almost classify her as just ‘jockey,’ now,” said Jones following the Joyful Victory in the Santa Margarita before 13,865 fans. “You don’t have to put ‘woman’ on there anymore. She’s talented. And horses love to run for her. I’ve had some horses that are somewhat lazy horses. I didn’t think Rosie would fit them, but Rosie didn’t have a call so I put them on them and the horses weren’t lazy anymore. She just can communicate with them. And now that we are more personal friends and go riding and things like that when we’re not racing I’ve learned what a great horseperson she is. She’s been doing this since she was a baby. No, this girl is talented. Barring any injuries, and God bless her she’s been lucky to come back from the injuries she’s had, but if she can stay healthy, believe me, she’ll go down in the history book.”

Additionally - as measured by wins (not mount earnings): Rosie (with 80-wins) is 1st in the nation and 4th by earnings (as of end of 3/17/13)

Looks like she picked up another good mount at Gulfstream Park coming up:

Napravnik could have a big day here on Florida Derby day. In addition to riding Shanghai Bobby in the main event, she will also have the call on Take Charge Indy, if he goes, in the Grade 3 Skip Away. Take Charge Indy had his first major work since finishing third in the Grade 1 Donn Handicap, breezing six furlongs in 1:14 at Palm Meadows on Sunday.

“He’s also nominated to the New Orleans Handicap,” said trainer Pat Byrne, “but we’re leaning towards the Skip Away because it would be a lot easier to ship him 45 minutes to Gulfstream rather than all the way to New Orleans to face Graydar.

“Another reason is we can get Rosie to ride him since we’ve already been told Johnny [Velazquez] is riding Cigar Street in the Skip Away for Bill Mott”

Okay, come on and sing with me, “This girl is on fire”.

Well shucky-darn, I was going with Johnny V in the Skipaway but it looks like it will be Rosie and TCI instead.

Rosie Napravnik one win away from No. 1,500 - NOLA 3-19-13

Career stats as of the start of today (3-19-13):
Starts: 7,922

Seconds: 1,343
Thirds: 1,189
[Mount] Earnings: $47,680,587

She doesn’t ride today but has four mounts for Wed March 20th at the Fair Grounds and likely will attain the 1,500th win.

Mission accomplished with four mounts Wed March 20th and going 1-2-0

Leading Fair Grounds jockey Rosie Napravnik hit her second major milestone in the eighth race on Wednesday. Napravnik rode Steve Asmussen trainee Ronda Michelle to a three-length win in an $10,000 maiden claiming race.

“It seems like just yesterday I was winning my first race at Pimlico, so I think it came a little quicker than I figured it might,” Napravnik told the media following the race. “I’m just very thankful for each and every one of the wins and all of the people that helped me to achieve them.”

And she sets a new record for 2012!

Brisnet 1-1-13: “Napravnik tops Krone to establish new female jockey mark”

From Julie Krone[/QUOTE]

Nice heartfelt comment from Julie and so well written. It mean so much coming from her with all her accomplishment in racing.

Following her almost guaranteed riding title at Fair Grounds for the meet ending shortly, Rosie will “ride full-time at Keeneland, Churchill; Steve Bass her new agent”

The 25-year-old leads the nation in 2013 victories with 91 heading into Thursday’s racing, 13 more than second-place Juan Diaz. Her 14 stakes triumphs also rank on top, with Hall of Famer John Velazquez next at 12.

Look for Rosie to be featured in a CBS ‘60-Minutes’ segment in the near future - as the NOLA headline reads:

Rosie Napravnik is New Orleans’ next superstar

This week a CBS crew is in town to profile her for an upcoming edition of “60 Minutes.”

“It’s really exciting to think that ‘60 Minutes’ wants to do a story about me,” Napravnik said. “But it’s also a little bit of a whirlwind right now. It’s really amazing where I’m at in my career.”

Tribune/B’More Sun May 5, 2013: “Agent Peter Carlisle has put Rosie Napravnik on the Phelps plan”

Earlier this year, Carlisle signed another client — at the suggestion of Morgan — and put her on the Phelps plan. He’s already signed a deal for jockey Rosie Napravnik to endorse Snickers — an agreement proposed before Carlisle learned that the candy bar was named for a horse — and has another in the works that could be announced before Preakness.

The goal is the same: to make Napravnik known by the average sports fan and therefore elevate the popularity of her sport.

Sounds like a hot to trot agent. I’m trying to visualize RN in a candy bar ad. She is a good candidate for fame. Great stats, attractive and has a touch of class. Dang, the girl is ahead of Johnny V, that is speaking volumes for her talent.

Positive for everyone! Napravnik to join Old Friends board of directors (5/15/13)

Popular jockey Rosie Napravnik has agreed to join the board of directors for the Old Friends Thoroughbred retirement group. The organization is based in Georgetown, Ky., with a satellite near Saratoga Springs, N.Y.

Just read that Rosie is now on the board of Old Friends.

While today in the Grade 1 Met Mile (a sensational race!) and 45th running of the Grade 1 $400,000 Ogden Phipps Handicap it wasn’t Rosie’s day (despite have very good mounts in each) at least she did convincingly win the Grade 1 $300k Acorn Stakes for fillies on Bob Baffert trained Midnight Lucky.

Video replay from NYRA here (May 27, 2013)

All the more satisfying is that she soundly defeated Kauai Katie (finished 3rd) a horse she was dumped from after finishing 4th in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies-G1.
