US Olympic Team OTTBs
Comet Shine (Courageous Comet’s sire) stands at stud at my neighbors. He’s a cool horse and I delivered one of his foals this year when on foal watch there. He puts lots of bling on them. I have a 5 year old mare of his in my pasture that just finished racing (she did well). He puts good minds and beautiful movement on his offspring, that’s for sure!
I note that the horse with one of my favorite TB names is in that pedigree: Stage Door Johnny (Prince John x Peroxide Blonde). Always thought that was a very clever name, i.e., “Prince and the Show Girl” reference. My recollection is Stage Door Johnny was a chestnut with lots of bling. Maybe that’s where it comes from.

Sorry about the double post of this topic. The TB Times did an article on both OTTB horses yesterday

Here are their respective lifetime past-performances:

Chesterstimetoofly (pdf) - aka Poggio II ridden by Amy Tryon

Courageous Comet (pdf) ridden by Becky Holder

Is that his racing or his equestrian name? What’s his pedigree?

I’m curious to know why the above-mentioned TBs appear as breed “not listed” in the official order of go. Is it because the FEI doesn’t recognize the Jockey Club as an official breed registry…:frowning:

WhiteCamry, maybe USEA has the pedigree. Here’s some info:

Don’t know where you are seeing this. Can you link to:

SM, the order(s) of go are found here:

I don’t see any at the moment; all I see are the results, which don’t have the breed listed.

The following are OTTBs…
BEL BOLD ACTION Joris VAN SPRINGEL (TB – FRA) — Cricket Ball — Action de Graces — (Northern Baby)
CAN MADISON PARK Kyle CARTER (TB – USA) — Monaco Magic — Mistress of Mine — (Band Practice)
USA COURAGEOUS COMET Becky HOLDER (TB – USA) — Comet Shine — Rosenelli — (Seat of Power)
USA POGGIO II Amy TRYON (TB – USA) — Polynesian Flyer — Waves Club — I

Not sure if the following raced, but they are TBs…
NZL SUGOI Heelan TOMPKINS (TB - NZ) — Coral Reef — Smart Lady
SWE KEYMASTER Magnus GALLERDAL (TB –SWE) — Eighty Eight Keys — Maria Luiza — I
CAN LIVEWIRE Samantha TAYLOR (TB – CAN) Johnny Greenback — Market Appeal — (Mickey McGuire)

This horse did not race, as far as I can tell (maybe p2p’ed), does have siblings that raced over fences though.
GBR MINERS FROLIC Kristina COOK (TB-GB) — Miners Lamp — Mighty Frolic — I

This horse is nominally TB, though I believe is not in the GSB (as the dam was unregistered, though she did race, between the flags if not under rules) and is 2 gen of sporthorse breeding by the sporthorse-bred super-sire Master Imp, so probably doesn’t belong in this thread.
USA MANDIBA Karen O’CONNOR (TB –IRE, W-NTR) — Master Imp — High Dolly (W-NTR) — I
Thanks Drum
Perhaps this could be forwarded to the two colour commentators on the Cdn channel.Cara Whitham and Nancy Whetmore - the only time I heard the word Thoroughbred was when Courageous Comet was in the ring.
At one point my poor husband said, “they can’t hear you honey”

Courageous Comet has always been one of my favourites - it brings tears to my eyes just watching him.

GoTBs!!! (and Almost TBs - which means just about all the rest of them!!)
