US Olympic Team OTTBs

It looks like two of our Olympic Team horses - Courageous Comet and Poggio II - are OTTBs. Anyone know anything more about their racing history?

Courageous Comet’s racing history is on his pedigree. He did quite well for himself: http://www.pedigreequery.com/courageous+comet

Poggio II did not do quite so well: http://www.pedigreequery.com/poggio+ii

Cool my mare has the same grand sire as Comet

It’s late and has been a loooooong day so it took awhile to figure out the above! Blame it on all the hay I just put up in the loft this evening.

Go BABY Go!

I blame the mind numbing heat. It took me a very long time to get it!

It’s bright and early, and I’m having my first cup of tea. I got it right away. I loff them TB’s!

Waaaaaay Cute! Now there’s the bumper sticker for us.

I love Thoroughbreds!! Please make us a sport TB registry, bring back the sport TB bloodlines and allow AI and registry for them!!

The following are OTTBs…
BEL BOLD ACTION Joris VAN SPRINGEL (TB – FRA) — Cricket Ball — Action de Graces — (Northern Baby)
CAN MADISON PARK Kyle CARTER (TB – USA) — Monaco Magic — Mistress of Mine — (Band Practice)
USA COURAGEOUS COMET Becky HOLDER (TB – USA) — Comet Shine — Rosenelli — (Seat of Power)
USA POGGIO II Amy TRYON (TB – USA) — Polynesian Flyer — Waves Club — I[/I]

Not sure if the following raced, but they are TBs…
NZL SUGOI Heelan TOMPKINS (TB - NZ) — Coral Reef — Smart Lady
SWE KEYMASTER Magnus GALLERDAL (TB –SWE) — Eighty Eight Keys — Maria Luiza — I[/I]
CAN LIVEWIRE Samantha TAYLOR (TB – CAN) Johnny Greenback — Market Appeal — (Mickey McGuire)

This horse did not race, as far as I can tell (maybe p2p’ed), does have siblings that raced over fences though.
GBR MINERS FROLIC Kristina COOK (TB-GB) — Miners Lamp — Mighty Frolic — I[/I]

This horse is nominally TB, though I believe is not in the GSB (as the dam was unregistered, though she did race, between the flags if not under rules) and is 2 gen of sporthorse breeding by the sporthorse-bred super-sire Master Imp, so probably doesn’t belong in this thread.
USA MANDIBA Karen O’CONNOR (TB –IRE, W-NTR) — Master Imp — High Dolly (W-NTR) — I

Drummie, what does W-NTR mean in the following?

USA MANDIBA Karen O’CONNOR (TB –IRE, W-NTR) — Master Imp — High Dolly (W-NTR)

W-NTR is just my shorthand for Weatherbys Non-TB Register, where quite a few TBs actually end up for one reason or another.

Drummie thanks so much for this! Always wondered!

He also has an entry under his racing name Chesterstimetofly.

Glad to see Northern Baby is represented as damsire of the Belgian horse.
He was a great steeplechase sire and damsire, so it’s nice to know that his talent could also be passed on to event horses.

there is also Walk the Moon, on the paralympic Olympic dressage team. He’s an 11-yr-old thoroughbred gelding owned by David O’Connor, ridden by Keith Newerla. They will represent the United States and compete in Hong Kong, September 7-11.

Comet Shine (Courageous Comet’s sire) stands at stud at my neighbors. He’s a cool horse and I delivered one of his foals this year when on foal watch there. He puts lots of bling on them. I have a 5 year old mare of his in my pasture that just finished racing (she did well). He puts good minds and beautiful movement on his offspring, that’s for sure!

Cool - I read that in Practical Horseman and wondered if it was the same horse.
