Congratulations to the riders and owners who will be going.
Is there a reason why the article doesn’t mention who the breeders are ?
It doesn’t seem to be mentioned in the USEF press release. I think it is kind of a slap in the face to the breeders that the dressage world BREEDING championships does not list them. I don’t know the rules - does the ownership determine if they are US horses or does it matter?
Considering USEF has the breeding info on the horse’s USEF registration, and on the studbook papers required for selection, it’s too bad they left out naming the breeders !.
From USEF’s Selection Procedures for the FEI World Breeding Championships for Young Horses in Dressage: :
III. BREEDING/REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS:
Owners must submit a copy of the horse’s registration papers from a member of a national studbook, which is recognized by the WBFSH with the Application of Intent for the FEI WBD Championships. Owners must also submit an official letter from the horses’ breeding association in the country of the horse registration (member of the WBFSH), which states that the respective horse can represent the U.S. at the FEI WBD Championships.
Gotta love the US mentality towards all things breeding.
After all these years of breeders asking to be included, USEF still won’t go there.
Yes but they would have to get the information for three horses. That’s a lot./S
It’s summer - USEF probably has some 20 y/o college intern writing its press releases.
Then again, USEF has always had to have its tail twisted to do anything to acknowledge/support breeders.

Yay @Mardi1. I’m sure that took you upwards of three minutes to find and compile. If only USEF had that kind of time.
While I think its nice to now see grooms recognized, the breeders are in my opinion more important to recognize especially for this particular championship!
So none are US bred. The Europeans are no doubt laughing because the US is again sending European-bred horses to the World Breeding Championships. It does seem to make a bit of a mockery of the intent of that competition.
Just out of curiosity …
Does the Breeders Cup make much mention of the horses’ breeders?
Yes. Breeders are listed in programs and also usually mentioned in the televised post parade, as are sire and dam. It’s not uncommon to see ads congratulating the breeders and agent(s) who purchased the horse. See an example ad below.
Racehorse breeders also usually get a check when their horse wins.
Full guidelines are here, it does not matter as long as all are USEF members in good standing and follow the USEF selection procedures https://www.usef.org/forms-pubs/7iAVR3NKii8/2024-fei-world-breeding-championships
The breeders are important, and will be mentioned for sure in Ermelo. Usually they are invited to participate in prize giving ceremonies there, although there was some contention about this in recent years.
Not sure when or where Orado was sourced, but the other two came through Helgstrand as established riding horses. That topic could probably be its own thread!
The riders/trainers of the other two are husband and wife who ride similarly to the Helgestrand style.
