Use of Legend

I am interested in information about Summit injectable. It appears that it is not FDA approved.

Are you asking about Legend or Summit?

Do a search for Summit here in horse care… you will find lots information. Legend and Summit are 2 completely different products.

I don’t have any experience with Summit but based off of information I have read here and other places I would not use it.

Summit. It seem pretty controversial and in not approved by the FDA

I use it and love it, but it sounds like you’ve found the information you were looking for in older threads.

Legend is approved, but it doesn’t seem like that is what you are asking about. No point in rehashing the Summit situation. You will find at least two recent threads with the search.

Re: Summit…

Personally, I don’t have the risk tolerance to willfully inject any horse of mine with a substance that has no research to prove it’s efficacy and no oversight to ensure safety or quality.

Legend, however, is a totally different medication that IS FDA approved and requires a vet’s prescription. If you’re looking to utilize that type of medication, research Adequan, Legend, and Pentosan and then discuss with your vet to determine which would be an appropriate fit for your horse’s needs.

tl;dr: tons and tons of reasons to stay far away.

Legend is great, though. Highly recommend.
