Oh inca thatās a bummer
(not to hijack this thread)
I didnāt see exactly what happened, BUT, I was right next to you as we were walking prior to being judged and I did hear your trainer tell you they were going to split us up for the canter and I remember being relieved to hear that ā then irritated when that didnāt happen. Then the next thing I knew, you were on the ground.
Terrible!! Just awful. Iām so sorry.
Yep. Multiple people heard the judge say she was going to split us to canter and then she didnāt. I was worried about the class because that was a lot of horses in that small ring with most of the jumps still up. I was surprised when I heard the command to canter to the left - but that went fine so I thought it would be okay. I was being so careful about spacing but you canāt control things when people come up on you from behind. And if I had been on my other horse, he wouldnāt have batted an eye. Itās not like anyone did anything super dangerous - my horse just felt completely boxed in and decided to get the hell out of dodge (but I didnāt get that memo - LOL) It was only my 2nd show on him so I donāt know him super well, as far as how he is going to react at shows.
Needless to say, I will NOT be doing any large flat classes with that particular horse again (donāt think I will ever get over that fear!) Too bad because he is a nice enough mover to pin but definitely not worth it.
We still joke that we hope that judge feels bad about not splitting us to canter! And that I should sue the judge since I participated under the pretense that the class would be split to canter (that is completely a joke because I know it is just the risk you take when you get on your horse at a show or anywhere else.)
I am counting the days until I can ride again and am looking forward to the fall shows.
