How might I find out the reason why a person is on the USE Suspension List?
You can try simply googling the person’s name exactly as it appears on the list and at least one of the dates. That used to work before they put it behind a wall.
Or go to this page: https://www.usef.org/compete/resources-forms/rules-regulations/rulings-findings
And then click on each of the three options in turn.
Why and when did the USEF get so secretive? Isn’t part of the penalty the public shaming?
IF the suspension does not have an end date, and it is not one of the known “insurance fraud” perpetrators, it is almost certainly some kind of “non-payment” suspension.
I think they put the hearings behind the pay wall because someone sued, or threatened to sue, that non USEF members did not have a “need to know” the details
The great majority of those on that baddie list bounced checks to shows for their entries and stay on it until they settle that obligation. Don’t recall they ever gave details beyond “failing to settle indebtedness to xxxxx Spring Classic”.
Honestly haven’t had the inclination to search the site to see how they are handling prior or current bad acts. Doesn’t seem to make much difference as a deterrent anyway these days.
Or a medical suspension! I am currently on the suspended list because I fell off and lost consciousness at a show 3 weeks ago. I have to go get cleared by a doctor before I can show at a rated show again. I can’t ride for 12 weeks because I suffered a fractured pelvis in the fall so I have not rushed to the doctor to get my form filed in order to get off the suspended list.
Feel better!!!
Is that a separate list? I didn’t even know such a list existed…
Thanks. He is on the Suspension list from 2013, with no end date, so I will assume it is for funny money.
Medical suspension is a separate list. I was on it last year.
Hope you feel better Inca!!
It shows up with all the other suspensions on the new website!!! There is a box you can check to include “medical only.” But, if you just pull up all suspensions, the medical suspensions are included. I know because I checked earlier today and when I pull up Texas suspensions, I show up on the list. Then if I checked “medical only” the list got much shorter with 4 or 5 of us on it.
And I had no idea there was such a thing until the steward made a HUGE deal about me not being able to show again at that show. (I refused the ambulance and didn’t go for xrays until a week later.) Even when I assured him I was not able to even get on my horse, he went on and on and tracked down the trainer, etc. Then the next day I got an e-mail from USEF confirming that I was on medical suspension.
Everyone, including the EMT, confirmed that I did not hit my head. But, I did pass out twice so I am under the concussion protocol and suspended until I submit a form from my doctor saying I can compete. I think I passed out from heat, dehydration and pain.
That really sucks and seems awfully unfair. There should be total clarity about the fact that a medical suspension is a MEDICAL suspension
Oh inca, I am really sorry. I hope you heal quickly and fully
Well, the PRIMARY use of the suspension list is supposed to be for show secretaries to check- to see who they are not supposed to accept entries from. In that context, it is easier to have one list than two.
I don’t mind having 1 list. However, it would be nice to have a clear indication of which suspensions are medical. I am hoping no one is wondering what terrible thing I did to get suspended! It kind of adds insult to injury (literally ) to have my name there without it being clear that I haven’t broken any rules.
I wonder how often that actually happens, though. It certainly seems to be not uncommon for someone to get busted for showing when they’re already suspended. I can’t imagine secretaries check the suspension list for every entry. Unless maybe there’s a recent computer program that does it automatically.
Inca, hope you feel better soon!!
All they would have to do is put “medical” next to the name.
I’m so sorry to hear about your injuries, @inca! I was in that class with you and had so hoped that you walked away relatively unscathed after getting your bearings. Recovery from a serious injury as an adult is so not fun. Best wishes for a speedy and uneventful recovery.
Yeah, that is what I was hoping too - LOL I am definitely feeling better but of course am ready to ditch the crutches and get back on a horse. At least I can drive now and was able to go to the GHHJA show this past weekend as a spectator.
I was so annoyed because the class was basically over when I came off. 3 horses suddenly surrounded me and I am told that one drifted right in front of me. My horse had a schooling ring accident with a prior owner and freaked out when he got boxed in. It happened so fast that I was coming off before I knew it.
