Used Hawk Trailer

Am in the hunt for a used 2-horse gooseneck trailer that is good to haul around Florida (in the heat)…I want a straight load with a dressing room and AC. I found a 1999 used Hawk at Coast to Coast Trailers in Ocala, who I bought my last trailer from. It’s kind of worn- tires look awful, the AC is actually a window unit someone put in the back of the dressing room. That being said, the price is something I can afford…any feedback on buying an old (1999) trailer? Most of the searches I have done on Hawk trailers are positive, and I like the wood floors and fiberglass roof. The age scares me a little. any thoughts? I have been looking on Horse Trailer World, Ocala4Sale and craigslist…as well as dealer sites.

Did you see if TrailersUSA in Ocala has anything available that would meet your needs?

Hawk and TrailEt are great brands. I had a 1991 for years and it was awesome. Sold it a few years ago for more than I paid for it!

My friend at the barn next door just got a beautiful custom 2 horse LQ from Trailers USA. That being said, it is out of my price range.

Perhaps they have a trade-in or know of someone wanting to move up. Someone on HGS awhile back was selling a 2h Minuteman GN, too. (I happen to own a 2004 TrailersUSA Minuteman Sport 2h BP that I lucked out finding on CL locally and it’s a nice trailer)

I just bought a '99 Hawk trailer last year. Its in great overall shape, with a few cosmetic dents and dings and the tires were in bad shape until I replaced them. I love it. Horse loves it. Best of all, I could afford it.

It is “old” but its not like trailer designs have really changed and it looks like a dinosaur going down the road or anything. It actually worked out really well b/c the paint color is white with ugly gold stripes and my '99 F350 is that exact same ugly gold! It totally looks custom!

Oh, and I was upgrading from an '86 model, so '99 seems new!

I have a 2000 Hawk trailer that is still in great shape! I had to replace the plywood in the ramp last year (for the first time) and buy new tires, but otherwise it’s as good as new.

1999 Hawk 2H BP

I have a 1999 Hawk 2H Straight-load BP trailer that I bought lightly used in 2004. I haul about 15 - 20 times per year for lessons, clinics, horse trials, etc. I replaced the plywood on the ramp and upgraded the rubber mat in 2012, but besides that I haven’t done anything besides the usual maintenance (greased bearings, replace tires). The trailer still looks great. In fact, I’d really like to upgrade to a GN 2H Straight or GN 2+1, but I don’t really have any justification since this trailer looks/operates great and the horses love it!
