Can anyone point me in the right direction for a contact person to ask about the legality of a bit for USEA recognized eventing dressage competition? I have studied USEF Eventing Annex 1 & I just can’t tell if the bit in question (a myler snaffle with tongue relief) is permitted. TIA!!
Which level Myler? MB01 or 02?
Not sure. It’s the Myler eggbutt (without hooks) with wide ported barrel, MB 33WL, Level 3
This is older, but I suspect still valid, so not legal. https://www.facebook.com/mylerbits/photos/a.122715281076673.22206.114390735242461/732262373455291/?type=1&theater
Contact Shealagh Costello at USEF
03 are not legal, sorry.
the mb33wl is legal for regular dressage, I just bought one for my mare. I would think it would be ok for eventing dressage
Never make that assumption! Bits are often different under USEF Dressage and USEF Eventing dressage. Some are legal straight Dressage and not Eventing, some the other way around.
Like GNG said. For instance, a Dr Bristol is legal for Eventing Dressage, but not legal for USDF Dressage.
Back to OP, email USEF (although a wide ported barrel is in the approved list, so I’m curious what they say. please report back!)
