USEF Medal Finals

Holy cow. Dominic Gibbs.

When he won the class at Capital Challenge as a 13-year-old I remember thinking that he had a style and presence to watch. Wow. That was lovely, smooth, made it look like a lope out in the field. That is a hunter-seat ride.

Can someone post the link to the feed. I can’t seem to get on today, thanks.

I don’t know which names go with which numbers, I’m sorry. Walking in, I see Sam Walker, Elli Yeager, Grace Debney, and now it’s zooming out so I can’t see the rest. Taylor Griffiths-Madden and Dominic Gibbs are also in there. I’m not sure who one is.

Some portion of the test involves dropping their irons and jumping a fence. I’m not sure I love that - if you’re going to have them drop irons, do it for the whole test so they can be taken off instead of banging the horses in the sides…

I think it’s Zayna Rizvi on the far left?

Elli Yeager just laid down an absolutely stunning test. 😍

Okay, if I were judging, I would pin it as Elli, Taylor, Dominic, Sam or Grace (both had issues with lead, I think it could go either way), Zayna.

We’ll see!

Me too. I would go Grace then Sam.

Someone please post results! I’m judging an IEA and Schooling break is over.

Tom Brennan and Emma Fletcher (2019 Medal winner).

Good for Annalise! First 3’6” final for both her and the horse and they ended up 12th out of 205.

Sorry in advance y’all, I’m not getting the best quality sound and I’m not sure I’ve spelled these names right at all.

Reserve: Kiersten Antoniadis
12th: Annalise Menuch?
11th: Ashley (Ashleigh?) Scully
10th: Celia Cramm
9th: Augusta Iwasaki
8th: Mimi Gochman
7th: Skyler Fields
6th: Zayna Rizvi
5th: Grace Debney
4th: Dominic Gibbs
3rd: Sam Walker
2nd: Elli Yeager

Winner: Taylor Griffiths-Madden

I think the judges may not have had the best angle - I thought I saw Sam step off the first counter lead and then immediately back onto it so it would have been easy to miss - that is why I had him further down.

They got it absolutely correct. Sam was so slick in so many other ways that they didn’t ding him much for that. Amazing riding by all of these kids … I hope this live feed gets references the next time the coth boards deteriorate into one giant complaint about the lack of good riding or horsemanship in today’s world. Every one of these top 12 riders loved on their horses, gave them great honest rides, and showed excellent sportsmanship. Here’s to the future.

So fun to watch as always! Quimby is my new horse crush. So excited to see what the future has in store for Sam Walker and Canada.
