I’m not saying they shouldn’t post the suspensions, but let’s call it like it is. People went berserk over this.[/QUOTE]
And the reason that people went berserk was because of the civil suit making the transcripts public. So for the first time, we actually got to see how the system worked. And I, for one, feel that people should go berserk.
That the governing body knew about the rampant drugging, and the missuses of the trainer signatures, etc that has been suspected by many members), all confirmed was pretty blatant. And that the horse had had so many injections that they couldn’t put another into it’s jugular vein. In addition, reading the transcript as a whole put a pretty poor light on the USEF and how it handles it’s discipline.
That kind of transparency is badly needed, and might actually make the rank and file members feel like there is actually some justice going on (or not, as the case may be). But when the transcript shows the lack of emotion regarding a top horse that gets 9 tubes of substances 20 minutes before going in the ring from all concerned in the room shows more than they’d want us to see. 1) they know about it. 2) they don’t want US to know about it.
And as stated, the USEF vs Randall Cates is another cluster. Much, much more than meets the eye on that one as well.
When the USEF actually begins to govern with a fair, even, and transparent hand (searchable database, publish all of the transcripts, pull all awards from those found guilty in drug tests), then I’ll believe that they have the best interests of 1) the horses and 2) the members at heart. Until then, go berserk. Maybe they’ll listen? But I doubt it.
