Using Arnica cream

I see in a John Madden video, they use an arnica product under standing bandages. I also see it helps with swelling, etc. It would be a nice alternative to poltice it seems.(I am behind the times…)

Any suggestions as to specific arnica products that (generally) may be used under a bandage? The one Madden uses is not mentioned in the video. (I am always afraid of accidently blistering a horse…so I recognize the caveat different horses can be sensitive to different products and different products may have other additives that are a problem.) TIA!

Sore No More has been kind of a standard for that sort of thing. Just know that now all horses can have that wrapped, though most don’t have any problems.

There’s always the option to buy some Arnica gel or cream as its own thing, health stores, that kind of thing. That’s probably a more $$ way to go, and you’d need to mix it with something for the dilution you get with SNM.

Thanks!

I use this stuff on my own Clutz Ran Into Something incidents, really, anything that might end up as a bruise.

Though I’m not sure that I’d wrap over it until it had had a chance to dry, it does seem miraculous. Not recommended for any kind of open cut. The SNM poultice with arnica is the only kind I own.
