Using show ribbons?

Anyone have ideas for how to use, reuse, recycle ribbons from more shows? I think I’ve seen wreaths in the past but maybe somebody has ideas or links that they are willing to share

This site has some ideas I haven’t seen before:

Very nice. Thanks!

I really like the wreath idea. Hadn’t seen that before.

I disassembled mine, put the button portion in a big mason jar. I left a few with the rosette portion still attached.

yesterday I found our dog sleeping on one of the coolers one of horses won… I think that is a $40,000 dog bed

My mother always said ribbons cost $1;000 per inch

Makes me laugh when people talk about competing for a 10 cent ribbon!

Show ribbons are a great thing to donate to therapeutic riding programs/4-H clubs/etc.

When my showing years were over, I went thru my collection, picked out the ones I really wanted to keep and donated the rest. Some of them were actually donations themselves, lol. But they weren’t dirty or faded so off they went to give another kid the thrill of winning.

That’s a great idea

If you have a ton and aren’t going to use them all to make something fun with, definitely donate them. This is a great resource: http://www.ribbonrecycling.com/donate.html

As for things to do with ribbons you want to keep:
A pillow made from a fancy ribbon - https://i.pinimg.com/564x/0c/73/19/0c7319177d8050a91518a20a16acf1bf.jpg
Frame filled with ribbons when you are just overflowing with them - https://i.pinimg.com/originals/23/f1/47/23f147a4c2fddaba915b2545fa982171.jpg
Who doesn’t need a ribbon filled lamp base? https://i.pinimg.com/originals/19/5b/d0/195bd0248c665524d5ee6d6d1e5ab72e.jpg
Make a tack trunk cover (pictured) or even a quilt - https://i.pinimg.com/originals/1d/fd/50/1dfd5056a8ece0bcbe3e574b4fed6707.jpg
Heck, make a whole ribbon room (ribbon pillows, ribbon quilt, ribbon wreath) https://i.pinimg.com/564x/b4/44/04/b4440463cdf19dc09b0fc47e577a6c0f.jpg
Ribbon filled coffee table or display case - https://i.pinimg.com/564x/c4/6b/e9/c46be959f152bb79a7550c5a73de3343.jpg

I typed out a big reply with photos, but it got marked “unapproved” so I’ll type out what I’ve seen and most you can search for on pinterest and see examples:

  • Pillow with fancy ribbon displayed (nice fabric background with an inspirational word or quote and just one big ribbon… looks nicer than the all ribbon pillows to me)
  • Quilts
  • Display case filled with ribbons, or a glass/wood coffee table filled with ribbons
  • Stuffed animal made of ribbons (I’ve seen bears, horses, etc)
  • Tack trunk cover
  • Shadow boxes
  • Picture frames made of ribbons or wrapped in ribbons

If you have a real excess of ribbons and don’t want to make any more crafts then definitely donate them. A good resource is www.ribbonrecycling.com.

I’ve gotten to the point where I don’t keep most of my ribbons anymore, unless they have date on them most facilities can re-use them.

The ones I do have either are kept and hung with their respective Champion coolers, or are neatly arranged in a display case. Even still I’ve got ones that are stuffed in a bag in the basement, eventually I’ll get around to donating them somewhere.
