Uvex helmets for the hunter ring?

I’ve had my Uvex helmet for five years now, so it’s time for a replacement. It’s a popular helmet among eventers, and it’s served me very well in the jumper ring. It fits great and I absolutely love the dial system. However, the model I own (the super sporty Perfexxion) won’t fly in the hunters, which is where I seem to be headed.

I’ve looked at their website, and I think some of their styles will work in the hunter ring. I’m just so out of touch with that world, I’d benefit from the opinions of some huntery folk.

Here are the options: https://www.uvex-sports.com/equestrian/riding-helmets/. I’m leaning towards the Uvex Suxxeed Active. Thoughts and opinions?

I love Uvex helmets. I think it’s sad that one cannot simply wear a helmet they like that fits and is safe simply because of some arbitrary fashion.

You most definitely can wear whatever you like. I see people in the hunter ring wear everything from Kask, Antares, and other helmets that I personally don’t care for but works for that person. And no judge is going to determine your placing by what helmet brand you have. @Momateur, if the UVEX fits you and you like it then buy and wear it. To me, it looks like the Kask and I have seen people wear those at AA shows in the hunters. You’d be fine and 99% of people will never even notice your helmet. They’re too concerned with themselves.

I don’t see any problem with the brand. I love the adjustable system. I’d maybe lean more toward the Velours or one of the Luxury models. Just because it’s more of a nod to our hunter roots than a slick shell. That said, get the helmet you like + 8 spots and 2 changes.

You’ve read my mind! I’ve been ogling this one and wish it was hunter appropriate. Clearly we need to start a better trend!

If you’ve never owned an Uvex, you will LOVE it!

At 30 MPH this helmet will look like a KASK, so buy it and wear it in the hunters if that is what your heart desires.

I think if you’re jumping around the hunter ring at 30mph that the helmet definitely won’t be the reason you don’t ribbon!

But in all seriousness the Uvex helmets are fine. There are so many options out there that even the snootiest people won’t know the difference. I prefer helmets with a matte finish. I would just avoid anything shiny.

I’m coming from two decades in the jumper ring. Hopefully I won’t be going 30 mph around the amateur hunters, but I make no promises!

It won’t matter what brand your helmet is for hunters, I’d just avoid any bling or extra shiny parts.
