Vaccine shortage?

A friend in the AG industry nudged me last week. and said acquire your vaccines now, there might be a shortage. I didn’t get to ask her if it was related to Covid impacting the bottle supply or is related to vaccine production.

Anyone heard of this possibility??

No, but you could check this list for more info about drug shortages: https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/drugshortages/

What part of the ag industry is your friend in? Our vets have been very forward thinking and proactive in informing us ahead of time of any possible shortages and we haven’t heard anything from them … yet.

Just put in enough supply for six months of Prascend and Thyroid supplement, as we generally do twice a year.
I asked our vets about any supply problems now, or expected and they said not that they knew or had heard about. Vaccines were not mentioned.
I expect if they were to be any shortages, they would let everyone know?

She owns a livestock supply store and carries bovine & equine vaccines, among other things. I don’t have cattle so I figured she speaking of horse vaccines. She’s out of the country and I will bend her ear for more data when she returns.

Appreciate the heads up. I just heard today that new saddles are in a shortage due to the virus and therefore putting more demand on used saddles.

Havent heard of vaccine shortage. Have heard warnings about possible ivermectin shortage. It has some anti-viral properties and some odd online groups are advocating people stockpiling the equine/livestock version.

I work for a farmers cooperative. There have been bovine vaccine shortages for months now, due to supply chain issues and periodic COVID shutdowns by the manufacturers. To date, there have been no equine vaccine shortages, and we haven’t been told to expect any yet, either.
