With all of the comments about the lack of good food vendors, will a vegetarian have a problem getting something to eat? My DH is a good sport, and will accompany me to almost any horse event, but he’s happier if he’s had a good meal. This could be deal breaker for him. Thoughts?
Tell him he’ll live longer if he eats meat, like humans are supposed to.
Recent studies prove it!

Not to be all 90s and all, but… “NOT!”

I hate people that troll vegetarians. It’s so annoying. It’s always the meat eaters who want to start the controversy. How can you not feel bad at some level about eating the flesh of animals that were treated like garbage and pumped full of antibiotics and hormones? Sounds like a recipe for a longer life to me! Would love to see the link to this article because I’d like to punch a hole in it like the iceberg with the Titanic.
Anyway, one of the reasons we had a terrible time at Rolex (in addition to the horses dying on cross-country) was the absolutely dreadful culinary options, especially for conscious eaters. I do think there was a salad dealer who had some crappy lettuce for $9 a bowl. I would suggest stuffing some veggie burgers in your bra!
All right, back to my hole.

Geez. I swore when I opened this thread to read your 'sponse I would not get tangled up in this mess.
OK… so let me get this straight. You found one source that has published something saying that vegetarians have a shorter life expectancy and, since it was published in 2010, you consider it the Final Word? Am I correct here? What’s the source btw?
For every negative review of a vegetarian diet, there’s a positive one. The battle of the omnivore goes on and on.
i would love a study done on why meat eaters compulsively must say something like the above any time they find out someone is a veg. is it because on some level they feel guilty? or ?
… So does anybody know what is on offer for food at the WEG? This vegetarian wants to know!

Yeah, I know, eating corn that produces it’s own pesticide is soooo much better, right?!
BTW, I shoot and eat local deer, so the whole corn thing concerns me as well.

Oh yea, just FYI - the dated (i.e., 90s) part oh my reply was the retort, not the circa of the studies I’d reference. To clarify: it was very 90s of me to respond by saying, “NOT,” which was like… fashionable when I was in high school.

Whatever, it don’t matter, and I forgive you.

Excellent. So what is this cutting edge study you’re referencing?
Sorry, pony and CP for derailing. Over and out.
You can get Papa John’s cheese, spinach, or veggie pizza at their concession diagonally across from Bit of Britain in the Walnut Grove area of the park near the main arena. I think the big food concession right there has salads and veggie wraps, as well.

This.
I’m a vegetarian headed to KY this weekend too and thought this thread might help me find out what food options I’m going to have. Instead, it immediately turned into a debate about eating meat or not.
Really not the point of the thread.
If you’re not a vegetarian, or have nothing to say about what vegetarian food options available, why would you even feel the need to say something completely useless?
I would really just like to know what food there is for me to eat, which was, funny enough, the original point.

The main vendor has vegetarian burritos and pasta for hot foods as well as salads and veggie sandwiches available. I saw several salads (ceasar, orchard harvest etc) that were veggie and a few sandwiches and pasta salad.
Maybe its different for those with credentials (versus ticketed attendees) but i’ve brought food in several times this week and never had it taken away. If you have a back pack, stick it in the front pouch-they only search the main part. Again this could be because I go through a special “credentials only” sercurity check point, but they didnt seem any stricter when i went through the “normal” gate on Sunday.
you don’t have to be a vegetarian to enjoy vegetables. and while i’m not a veg, I opened this thread with concern that i don’t want to eat corn dogs and crap for 3 straight days.
i’m glad to hear there are some things that are colors other than white or brown
I think the trouble is finding a complete meal. It’s not that vegetarians only eat vegetables. It is that we don’t eat meat…we need something to replace that hole in a meal. It isn’t fun to just eat a bunch of sides, and not satisfying either
Anyway, yes, there are actually vegetarian options! The veggie burrito in the big food tent across from BoB is really good. They made mine huge, too. (enough for two people, not sure how much they are as I had a meal voucher)
just a note : lots of times “veggie burritos” are made with spanish rice that is made with chicken broth… or bean cooked with lard. be sure to ask specific questions!
if it were me i would be taking food in…
Does anyone know if the 'bello burgers back? I had one at Rolex a couple years back and they were de-lish!
NOPE no guilt here. Nature made me an omnivore. Herbivores are prey animals, nature meant them to be eaten.
Meat makes me feel healthy and strong. Fruits, roots and seeds mess up my blood sugar, cause me to require medication and most certainly wILL shorten my insulin resistant life.
Guilt for me is corn on the cob or a baked potato
