Ventilated Boots?

Hi everyone,

I am looking for a new pair of everyday boots for my horse. They would be used for both flatwork and stadium jumping (not XC). I am looking for well ventilated brushing type boot with no fleece. I really like the look of the Professional Choice Pro Performance Hybrid Splints, but they don’t ship to Canada, nor am I interested in paying over $200 for a pair of front boots.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

I like my Armas. Don’t seem to hold much heat, even in the summer legs are the same temp as the rest of him/not sweaty underneath, definitely noticeably different than my old ASBs.

The BoT 3D Mesh boots and the Equillibrium All Sports boots are pretty similar to the Prof Choice boots in shape. The interior of BoT is more similar. All sports have a grid of foam pieces, like a miniature body protector.

Gatusos.

Echoing Arma. Just got a pair of them and had hosed the horse off before putting them on to test fit. The legs dried underneath at the same rate as the rest of the horse, and no sweat. I needed these for creek crossings and XC so wet boots are just a fact of life and they did well! Bonus, they’re like $33 USD for a pair and aren’t cheap looking at all.

I’m looking for some tendon/open fronts that behave similarly, so I’m following this thread.

These Pro Choice are available at Greenhawk in Canada

I had mine rip on XC 2 weeks ago. Trying the vented lemiuex vented XC boots next and can report back.

Arma Air Motion boots. They’re basically multilayered mesh with an inner strike pad. The coolest boots I’ve had to date…and I’ve tried a lot. VERY affordable (~$35 USD per pair). They make fronts (2 straps) and hinds (3 straps).

I’ll third the Shires Arma suggestion - but point out that (I assume) everyone is referring to the Air Motion boots specifically. There is also a regular neoprene Arma which is not ventilated at all. My horses legs are significantly less sweaty using the Air Motions over regular neoprene brushing boots.

Is there a US vendor for these? Cause I’m intrigued

I’m not sure yet. A professional tack fitter friend trialed them last Summer and had considered trying to become a US dealer, but I don’t know if she did. I’ll ask her if she knows if that ever happened, if it’s not her. But she LOVED them - she used them late last Summer, so in the worst of our heat and humidity, and legs were dry.

I saw them at kentucky, and I think it was the VTO booth - could be totally wrong though. I don’t see them on their website, but maybe coming soon?

Darn, out of stock. I wasn’t sure if Dapper Horse legit either but thanks for the link!

@leighbo009 oh maybe they have them soon I’ll check it out!

Totally legit and great customer service. I have ordered 3 bombers bits from them, 2 of which they special ordered and one I asked for the wrong size and they let me exchange it.

Do you have these? The pictures make them look like a soft pliable material. Which I wonder about its actual impact protection. I want the design with the harder shell of standard open front boots for strike protection.

I have Gatusos Air open front boots, and I love them. I have a gelding who interferes, a lot, and these have been a great choice. They’re cool, easy to clean, and are standing up well to daily wear. You can get them from Trade Inn for about $100 CDN including shipping. The next time I’m also going to order their hind fetlock boots.

I’ve ordered multiple pairs of Gatusos Air boots from Outdoor Functional Wear and love them. Super light and breathable and easy to clean. They hold up well and I’ve just accepted that my horse wears crocks now.
