Ventilated Polos vs Brushing Boots Help?

I have my green Friesian cross in light flat work in addition to hacks and find myself wondering if I should be booting up. He has baby moments and knocks himself from time to time. I was looking at Anamoteq polo wraps but feel it won’t offer much protection. I was considering Majyk XC boots or Equilibrium Tri Zones but I feel a little lost. Could anyone recommend a breathable boot that offers a bit of insurance?

I recently tried a pair of the ARMA air motion brushing boots for my youngster who needed a little protection from hitting herself.

I had a pair of Woof boots on behind and the ARMAs on up front on a summer day. Under the Woof boots was very sweaty…the ARMA boots were dry. I was impressed at the difference (admittedly a non scientific test!).

They did still get sweaty on the 100 degree day…but on the normal temp days, there was no sweat under that brand of boot.

I finally bought a set of these, having heard many good things about them: https://dapperhorse.com/products/gatusos-front-protection-air-aeration-system-white?_pos=1&_sid=fd0d58aa7&_ss=r

I have ARMA Air Motion boots and I love them. Been using them for years. I have a few pairs because I’ve stocked up in case they ever stop making them

Equilibrium Tri Zones aren’t bad either.

I have never used polo’s or boots on my young horses and their legs are clean. I use the Equilibrium flex wraps when they do need boots.

Another vote for the ARMA air motion brushing boots. Been using them for about a month now. They clean well in the washing machine too.

Armas here as well. Great value for the price and legs don’t sweat at all… until we reach the temps where everything sweats regardless

I wouldn’t recommend XC boots for the work you describe. There’s a trade-off with heat (and price) for that level of protection, and its really doesn’t sound like you need it. Any basic pair of brushing or open front boots should work. I prefer open front boots since I feel like the opening helps keep things a little cooler, but I doubt it makes much of a difference either way. I ride in these (https://www.smartpakequine.com/pt/smartpak-deluxe-open-front-boots-25013?_br_psugg_q=open+front+boots) and have also had ARMA boots before and liked those too. Both kept the legs fairly cool but any boot is going to be warmer than nothing. You definitely don’t want polos, they offer no protection and trap heat like crazy.
