Vertical Saddle Trunk on Wheels? Help please.

Hi there,

I am looking for a Vertical Saddle trunk which can hold two Saddles and everything you need for a day out at the competition. I would prefer either Aluminum or Plastic to safe on weight. I only seem to be able to find the Sportote an the Burlingham and would appreciate your input. Maybe I am using the wrong search terminology?

McGuinn Farms makes a beautiful vertical trunk.

Oh, yes. But that’s probably in a weight and price category above the one specified by the OP. But I’ll bet she can find an aluminum one that’s very nice (if more industrial) AND which will cost a lot, if that’s one of the goals.

OP, let us know what you find. It would be great to now what’s out there.

I am looking for a compact version in Aluminium and I do not seem to be able to find any in the US. I keep coming up with UK pages. When I follow any of the compact Aluminium trunks on Pinterest, they either lead to the UK or France or the website no longer functions

IF I do find one, I will certainly share here. It appears to be a needle in a hay stack.

Something like this minus the drawers would be perfect. So half the size: http://www.mcguinnfarms.com/airplane_p1.html#

Now we are talking:) http://www.tacklockers.com/products/compact-pro/

I had one by Burlingham. It was for storage at a barn. I never used it at shows because it was too heavy to easily move around.

That is good to know! It is the one I was looking at but comparing prices between the Burlingham and the Tacklockers, makes the clunky Burlingham appear a much less appealing option.

They are very clunky and are practically the size of a garbage canister. It was too large to fit through the door of my trailers tack room and when fully loaded was impossible to get into truck or trailer without a ramp.

I have this one and I love it… Easy to move. But not sure where to get it in the US

I’ve been looking for the same thing, I saw some at Equine Affaire a few years ago that were reasonable but I can’t remember the name of the company and have since thrown all the info out.

As an aside, Walmart now carries a Sterilite version of a wheeled Stanley and while not as sturdy, sturdy enough for $20.

Did you see McGuinn’s single airplane box? http://www.mcguinnfarms.com/airplane_p2.html#

I have - ordered it from the U.K. Love it - it’s called a flexi locker -http://www.flexiequinetack.com/

it was pricey but I love it. I have the standard XL.

I made one from a nice tv stand. Bet you can do the same with a bedside table or something

I really like the tacklockers from the UK best so far. The shipping quote is painful at just under 500 GBP for a fast delivery but not much cheaper by boat. The prices are relativly affordable tough, particulary if you compare to the plastic boxes offered and consider the current $ to GBP value.

How do the Flexi Lockers and MC Guinns compare in price and shipping?

I also sent an inquery to these Guys as it appears that they would let you check out without delivery charges. Typicly for Germany there is no payment request via credit card but the request to transfer the amount owed via Bank transfer, so they may well use the opportunity to advise of shipping charges then.

You are looking at several thousand for a mcguinn or flexilocker setup.

Pictures, please! I’ve thought of something similar

If that is the case for the small vertical lockers, the the Tacklockers or the German Trunks are a no brainer. They have all the same features and even with shipping and every extra added they will not go above $1500 delivered. If the delivery at the Getman store is indeed included, it will stay well below for a good size trunk, including drawers.
