VERY Large Calf Tall Boot Questions - Parlanti

Hey everyone! I’m new to this forum so sorry if i’m doing this wrong lol

I have very large calves… unfortunately losing weight does not make them smaller (they are literally all muscle). I am thinking about ordering parlantis. It seems that when you order online you just tell them your measurements and that is all.

I have never ordered from this brand so I am wondering: Will the company email me after ordering saying my calf is too large or do they make them custom to your measurements? Also, do they charge extra when your calves are bigger than normal sizing?

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Fully custom boots are fit to you, no matter what size your calves are :). I have large calves with small ankle area and below the knees and have custom Tucci’s. No amount of exercise trims those suckers down either, they are what they are.

Any any update on this? I was literally thinking the exact same question tonight! My calf is 17" and I want to order the Denver’s. Online it doesn’t say they are restricted to any certain width etc, but I’m not sure what will happen if I order! :open_mouth:

Parlanti is not custom as far as I’m aware - what you’re putting in is measurements so they can match you to a stock size.

I did not find their size chart to be generous. Depending on your foot size (my foot is small, relatively speaking) the XL calf is only about 15." I am a medium calf in Ariat (around 14") and I wear a 38LH+ in Parlanti, so there’s only one calf size larger.

I’d be interested to know the answer to this as well. I have tiny feet and a relatively large calf.

I had an experience with Parlanti trying to fit an off the rack pair in the store with the rep. I have a 16 in calf. Which was outside the range of the off the rack boot that they stock for my foot size. Parlanti does measure for fully custom boots, but you can also pay more and get a semi custom using a rep and they will make an off the rack boot with a larger calf size than what they stock and charge you more. I believe what they told me was $200 more. The lady that I was dealing with made a phone call and whomever she spoke with authorized making a boot for more money in the size I would need. In the end I did not go with them, but I figured I would share! Hope it helps!

not what you are asking but I just bought pair of Ariats for my large calf and they fit like a glove, broke in before the first ride from just wearing around the house and cost about $300…

My experience with Parlanti, after 5 mths of waiting for the XL off the rack calf, in a size 10 was a serious let down. My calf is not quite 17". They didn’t fit…so I ordered the Ariat Stretch. They are fantastic, so comfortable and $250 less. They look fantastic.

I have a 16.5" calf and a size 10.5 foot. I wear off the rack ariats thatbfit great but could use a bit more height. Not sure why they don’t make the tall in the wides but oh well. Really want to try some others off the rack but I’ve always defaulted to ariat.

Parlantis are impossibly slim calfed (and short). I have normal ish sized calves and have to wear an XL+ (i am 5’4" with short legs)

Ya’ll are funny thinking your 16" calves are large! Mine are 20", no matter my weight. My dad had enormous calves. The only boots that fit me are fuller fillies. They come in a 20" height as well, so they are tall enough (barely after dropping) for my big a** self. lol!

Search “how to measure for tall or field boots”. There are many guides on YouTube and you will get a general sense of the size range you need

Then search “parlanti size charts” convert the cm to inches to see if they have an off the rack boot that comes close.

$1,000 +/- is a lot of money to make an error so be wise. If it is at all custom it may take an inordinate amount of time and you may not be able to return if wrong.

I would probably opt to buy from my local tack shop and get personalized service

their calf sizes are nuts. i am a slim calf in pretty much every brand (i have some slims that are problematically large) and they had me at a large calf circumference, not to mention they literally don’t come tall enough

I’m pretty sure they make customs but their off the rack stuff runs slim and short. I’m 5’2 and I wear a 38 XL+ in their boots (though I have to start with a heel lift, those are too tall until they break in).

Thank goodness I’m not the only one…even as a stick insect teenager I could not get tall boots to fit the cows!

My calves are 17-17.5 inches naked and I am 5’4" tall with a size 8 foot. :frowning: So I bought the largest width Parlanti had and literally spent a week, wetting, pulling and swearing until they were on. They stretch like crazy so in about a month (worn at least 5 days a week), they can be zipped up without me wanting to cut off part of my leg. I then got custom Romatellis that fit perfectly and wear like iron for $900. The Parlantis were well over $1000. Romatelli for me FOREVER! (And I am not a rep).

Don’t order Parlanti if your calf isn’t a stick. For that money, get full custom somewhere else. I am an XS or S in basically any other high end boot with a variety of stock sizes (DeNiro, Tucci, etc.), and in Parlanti I’m a medium calf width and need help getting the zippers up for a while. If my chicken calves are medium anything then I wouldn’t recommend the brand for anyone over slim to average size.

No help here with Parlanti, just commiserating with the wide calf crew. Are there so few of us that no one will make a high end, off the rack wide calf boot? Mine are 18” and I’m going for custom as Tredstep decided to cancel their plus calf Donatello’s. My ankles and knees are much tinier too, so most off the rack boots end up looking frumpy. I wear half chaps for all schooling and my last pair only come out for shows…

Not sure if this was bumped up by spam or???

But, I must commiserate with others on the boot issue. I have wide but shapely runners calves (maybe 16? I can’t remember the actual measurement), a skinny a** ankle, a large foot, and long lower leg. Talk about a miserable combination. The only things that fit me off the shelf are Monacos and De Niro Salantos. Both pricy but excellent quality. I was trying to get away from Ariat for a multitude of reasons but I simply can’t; they’re one of the few who make a decent selection of size combos. I desperately wanted to try Mountain Horse Sovereigns but apparently people with thick calves are not also tall/long legged  I can have one or the other, but not both.

I had looked at Parlantis before but alas no one carries the combo of sizes that I need so that I may try on (in ANY brand), and as stated Parlantis wouldn’t fit even if they had the biggest calf in stock to try. The Parlanti rep position was open in my area a while back and I thought about applying. But I was like how do I represent and market a product that I can’t even use? And that doesn’t make a product for anyone besides the sub-size zero Barbie doll.

All other brands I have tried have been sloppy in the ankle and gap at the top. Seriously, people. Just because my calf measures on the thick side of your size chart does not mean my whole lower leg is stove piped. Make boots with shape and contour!

So, if other runners with long legs and skinny ankles run across this thread in their miserable search for boots, if you don’t want to go custom, try Monacos or Salentos. They have fit me off the shelf, with zero gapping at the top, and my Monacos required practically zero break in time. I wore them for maybe three schooling sessions and stepped in to the ring at the Congress with no issue.

I LOVE the Sovereigns, but they aren’t for big calved short people either. Rats!!
