Very Old Posts Appearing

I’m wondering why there are so many threads from ages ago that are being resurrected for no apparent reason, no new posts, nothing.

I wonder if editing a post from a past thread pops it back up to the front page?

Usually what happens is someone finds a post via Google and adds to it.

We don’t really shut stuff down solely due to age here.

I also find that the posts at the bottom of a thread, that are suggestions (in theory related to the thread) can sometimes be very old posts.

If a Bot of some type posts in a bunch of old posts and those posts get removed by moderation, the old posts show on the current list, missing those bot posts, so there is no obvious reason for them to be there.

I purposely google a subject to see if it was mentioned and then bump the thread by adding a post to it…what’s the big deal?

That makes sense. Thanks.

What you said!

@skydy if you want to send me a link to one of the posts you’re seeing, I can let you know if that was the case in that instance.

No need. I was curious and slightly annoyed, but not that invested.

It’s on me. I need to pay more attention and not read bumped up 10 year old threads.

However (guess I am somewhat invested) it seems to me that it would be most helpful and productive to start a new thread rather than dredging up an ancient (10 yrs +) one.

Time travels on in decades. Training, veterinary care, and rules have progressed.

I don’t think that our past experiences should be tossed. However, we can consider that some of our best veterinary minds were there, and they are here now. When I read threads bumped up from long ago, many times it is pointless to respond. The posts have been answered and veterinary science has advanced.

By all means if you have an issue or a question ask away. :+1: Begin a thread. You will have many more responses than if you piggyback on an old thread.

Again, My Humble Opinion.

Sometimes it is fun to read an old thread.

some may be generated by the forum itself as a " Suggested Topics" even on this thread the first Suggested Topics coming up at least for me is from Feb 2015. “Choosing a career to support my horsey dreams”

Sometimes the responses are still valid and worthwhile. I don’t know why anyone would be so bothered by this.

I’m not “so bothered” by it. I asked why an old thread would pop up with no new post because it seemed odd. @trubandloki and the moderator answered my question. I was done with the topic.

You seem to have much stronger feelings about by my opinion and my question than I have about the subject.

No, you have misinterpreted my post.
