Very premature foal

I don’t have a link but a screenshot of Seven and Gretchen. Some of the comment that were under the photo were crazy. Even if the closet you’ve ever been to a horse is the one you rode for a quarter in front of the grocery store you should be able to see that he is on step away from a catastrophe.

That’s why they’re being so “picky” about his friend because if he acts like a horse for even half a second, or his friend does, it’s over and they know it.

And his “friend” looks pissed off in that picture….and the real tragedy……Seven is probably completely clueless to that fact.

That’s one of her Mini mares from a small herd of mares & their foals.
No mention of a stud, so either AI or they go somewhere to be bred.
IIRC, this one she hasn’t bred. Yet.
Was there an explanation of why this mare was hauled from her farm to UT?
I hope they don’t plan on her staying there :astonished:

ETA:
Comparing Seven - QH yearling - to that mini mare shows just how stunted he is.

Gretchen was the almost feral mini she got with the 2 bred mares. I believe Gretchen was too young to be bred when purchased, but I’m sure she will be, as KVS seems to only want breeding stock.

If I’m remembering right one comment was saying how the poster forgot how small Gretchen was. Not one word about how stunted Seven, a yearling Quarter Horse is.:woman_facepalming:t2:. Oh and about the crabby face on Gretchen, Katie said it wasn’t a mean face. She says Gretchen stays close to him so they are going to be friends. I think the reason for taking her to UT was to get him ready to go home with a friend. Easier transition maybe?

Watching this situation is like watching a train wreck. I can’t see it having a good ending for that poor boy. And unfortunately, when the inevitable happens I’m sure there will be merch😬

I think it does make a lot of sense to have a fragile yearling introduced to a potential new companion in a very controlled environment.

Thinking about the bumps and swaying on a trailer ride, how will he hold up to that?

Sure….I have a bridge to sell….

Horses don’t lie. I bet the real reason she “stayed close” was because she had no where else to go and that she was in a strange place. If she’s supposed to teach him how to be a horse….well that usually involves behavior that probably won’t be good for his leg/body.

The other very ugly, unfair truth….that mini is expected to suck it up and accept the equivalent of being abused.

No, no, no. You see - she gets to be Seven’s friend. It’s like, totally the best thing, like, ever.

Nevermind that this is a young, healthy filly who now - instead of living in a pasture with other healthy friends and a herd - gets to live in a small stall and small arena and small pasture with a strange horse that has no idea how to interact with other horses. :woman_facepalming:

Silver lining - she will get better nutrition and preventative care (farrier work, etc) that I think they likely get at the KVS BYB pen.

How exactly is the mini being abused?

That’s a really far leap.

His behavior and lack of respect for boundaries.

He’s clearly has never been in a position to learn them. And the whole point of this mini being his companion is that she is expected to just take all of his antics without ever fighting back (because his body can’t take it). And when/if she fails this particular unreasonable demand……what do you think will happen to her if she is justified in kicking out at him, and he has a leg failure from either trying to get of the way or from not being able to get out of the way.

I’m going to say that the “abuse” is being kept at UT is a 180 from the way KVS’ herd of minis lives:
Turned out in large grassy fields, stalled in a show place of a climate-controlled barn…
Of course, that’s what her vids show :unamused:

As for poor Gretchen getting the dubious honor of living as Seven’s friend, I don’t see that working long-term. If at all.
Bringing him home, no matter how luxe, it’s not going to be the 24/7 care & treatments he’s getting now.
:woman_shrugging: Maybe she’s seen the light & is bringing him home to euth when the inevitable happens.
So yeah, experiment further by putting his compromised self in a new environment :expressionless:

None of this is abuse of this mini. Bad idea? Maybe.

I definitely don’t think it’s abuse.

I just think it’s a definite downgrade in this mini’s lifestyle – and the sole purpose of the downgrade is due to this charade of prolonging the suffering of this crippled yearling.

It sucks for the yearling. It sucks for the mini. It serves no purpose beyond extending this freak show.

You clearly missed the concept that it is Seven who will be “abusive” to the mini via his lack of boundaries. She is expected to accept every nip/bite, kick, always yield to him etc. Expected to teach him to be a horse/boundaries without the natural tools of doing so. In people we would readily recognize this dynamic: where one doesn’t respect boundaries and the other has no relief, as toxic.

The people in this situation are being extremely unfair to the mini for setting up or allowing the unreasonable expectations that this is a good idea. No one is suggesting the people are going to beat the snot out of her, starve her, or otherwise neglect her physical needs.

But, parents who purposefully set their kids up for failure are generally considered emotionally abusive too.

The mini is dispensable. Seven is speshul.

I have no doubt. Artwork imagery of Seven with wings as he transcends his poor, earthly body. Perhaps even Christmas tree ornaments or jewelry charms. She’ll monetize it as much as possible. But until then, she’ll work the “true friendship and bonding” between Seven and Gretchen, who has unwittingly been tapped for this thankless role.

Right?! Her followers will shout from the rooftop that he can’t be euthanized because every horse deserves to be kept alive at any cost. The quality of life of the mini wouldn’t even be a consideration because what a beautiful sacrifice for him .

Naturally, I had to check this out. All I can say after watching whatever she thought she was doing to that newborn foal is: “What the all ____________ ?” (expletive deleted)

It’s like she’s playing a fantasy role in her own reality show, with no regard to the harm and pain she may well be causing. Good grief.
