She loves “assisting” the mares in nearly every birth. Foaling videos are really interesting but it’s hard to watch when she gets in there and starts “pulling”.
I didn’t miss anything. What they are trying to do is to put a generally docile horse in with another horse for companionship. MANY people do this. MANY people pick quiet horses to go with quiet horses, etc. Horses acting like horses to each other aren’t “abusing” each other. Is the horse always going to be docile? Who knows. I doubt they think it’s always going to go well, but they seemed to at least put some thought into a match. You’re acting like they’re going to shoot the mini if she kicks Seven. I think you need to pick your battles here, you’re defining a WIDE range of things as “abusive” which makes the core argument harder to hold to.
I had a horse on stall rest. To keep it quiet I rotated one of my other horses with it. Am I being “abusive?”
Same horse now on restricted turnout, so I put a docile horse in with it. They have hay in a restricted area. I don’t expect them to not be horses, but I chose a horse that isn’t interested in playing around or running. Am I being abusive?
A temporary situation to attempt to accumulate the mini and foal is not “abusive.” We take horses to shows and keep them in stalls, and we board horses in places with limited turnout. Is that abusive? Personally I think it’s worse to turn a mini out on a lush pasture and let it founder. Do I think it’s necessarily a good idea for this foal to be with any other horse? No. Do I think it’s a good idea to prolong things this far? No. Do I think this horse is going to come home and be fine in a 10 acre pasture? No. I really strongly disagree with some of the things they’ve done, and the way they are monetizing it, but the thing with the mini is not abusive.
Ah, so she’s compelled to insert herself into the foaling process whether she’s needed or not because it makes for great social media flicks. Wonderful.
Latest video of Gretchen and Seven. In this video you can see how he moves at liberty.
How can anyone be good with this?
Very unsettling and sad watching him try to canter
Except for the person saying Gretchen is too much for him, the comments on that video are delusional.
A video of mini abuse….absolutely lovely. She looks extremely fed up with being stuck with him.
How is this abuse?
What is happening here is a mare teaching a yearling to mind his own manners. I’m surprised it’s not more difficult as orphan foals miss a lot of social cues.
Again, I still think it’s a bad idea and he doesn’t look stable enough to be playing around or turned out with another horse at all but it’s not in any way “abuse” of this mini.
I just had time to read through the comments.. A few that made sense and that was refreshing to see. Here’s a few of my favorite quotes
, and by that these are so delusional it’s not even funny, “Dr Ursini said the only times his gate may be a little off is when he goes through a growth spurt “, someone mentioning Gretchen giving him space to jump and leap, but he hasn’t learnt he can do that yet, “I can see a huge difference and improvement in his movement “, “there are horses living happily for years with prosthetic legs” are there really? And all 4? Those are my questions. Then there’s a voice of reason Amber Garrity, who seems to know what she’s talking about and first thing I thought of was is she a member of CoTH? And the there was the person who asked what was wrong with his rear leg🤦🏻♀️
I didn’t have the time to read all comments, I had to stop my eyes from rolling to the back of my head. I do think more of her followers are starting to question some of what she does, like getting in and pulling foals. So there are voices of reason in the madness that is KVS world.
Well, I wouldn’t term it abuse but I think it’s deeply unfair that this young mini has to live at a vet hospital with no real turnout, and is auditioning to live basically in a stall and tiny pen for the rest of Seven’s life. I don’t think that will be long, but I’d feel very uncomfortable subjecting a healthy young animal to that lifestyle when I’m not even comfortable with it for an unhealthy animal. Certainly it won’t do much good for the mini’s long term health or soundness.
I am thinking that this arrangement won’t work for long, unfortunately.
All I could think while watching that video was, what if the mini decided to just lay into him; if she just got fed up and double-barreled him into the fence? He wouldn’t even be able to get out of the way. If she started chasing him, he’d be screwed.
I don’t think they’re going to like how this ‘partnership’ ends for this foal.
Just started writing a nearly identical post.
She looks truly annoyed and at times ready to either kick him or bite him. He’s so fragile and unbalanced I’m not sure he could get out of her way.
I feel so sorry for him, hobbling around like that.
Yup, and those comments are just mind-numbingly stupid. “Seven zoomies!” WTAF?
When she turns around and nails him right in the knee, that’s going to be the end of him.
My version is that she goes into heat, he gets all sniffy, she squeals, stomps, and kicks…
Or…
He tries to play with her, gets going too fast, slips and falls…
At this stage it would almost be a blessing in disguise.
Since you posted this, the Seven vids have apparently been made Private.
There’s only one of KVS & a 9mo Seven where she’s shilling for donations.
Comments are all eyerolling, nausea-inducing cheerleading.
PR Spin, UTVM?
This person must be a relative to that insane DHH breeder. Seriously, these people are so absorbed in their own ego, it’s disgusting. ALL the horses suffer.
She can’t take criticism I guess. More people were speaking up. The grocery store cowboys were losing their voices maybe because real horse people were paying attention.
That trot/canter/whatever is horrible to watch. It’s almost like his shoulder didn’t form correctly and so he can’t lift his legs up.
