Here’s the latest. Next swim Monday
New vid. Watch just the first few secondsif you don’t usually watch I think he’s walking much better in the treadmill today. Current vet says he’s just doing physical therapy now and doesn’t need to be there any longer. He’s going to University of Tennessee in a few days. I suggested one student send twice weekly videos for extra credit
I guess this is the last we’ll see of Seven for a while. Last swimming/treadmill video. He’s off to college

If/when she posts about him again, I’ll post it, but I might not remember this post’s title so don’t kill me if I create a new topic

Thanks, I knew there was this option but didn’t know how
His right hind is moving noticeably better than a week ago. I didn’t want to get involved in this, fearing the worst, but now I’m cheering him on.
Yeah, some of the updates made me not want to post, but I said I’d keep everyone updated and it is up to everyone to make their own decisions as to how they feel. I think she’s done a good job and is being realistic about the whole thing.I’m wondering why she didn’t go on with dyna splints but am sure she did her research and made the correct decisions. I hope the little guy gets to grow up comfortably and can have a good pasture life. From her other posts, she sure has enough properties and plenty of other animals for him to be able to find his place in the world.
Here’s the update of him getting to the University. Also got a little tour of the place
I thought it was cool that they just laid him on the stretcher (on admit) and he said OK. I do this all the time…I really hope they can get his tendons and ligaments sorted out. Despite his predicament, he seems a cheerful little guy.
Well, one hopes he was highly sedated to travel in the car for four hours. I still don’t think he can get up and down on his own, or at least not easily without the splints since they tend to cut away any video between lying and standing unless someone picks him up, but flailing in the car wouldn’t be great either.
Been following along for most of the journey. I thought it was interesting they wrapped his legs straight so early on. I was thinking it would have been better for his bones to form while his legs were bent as they would have been if he was still in the mare.
I can only imagine those vet bills!!
He’d probably have ended up even more contracted/crooked. Tendons like to grow at a slower rate than bones whenever they can get away with it lol.
So, she’s been holding out on us. University has been sending her all kinds of updates and videos and she’s only just now letting us know. This is interesting it shows them fitting him for the splints
Here’s the latest we don’t see him moving, just a background pic and the when the vet updates she’s in the stall with him
But I’m wondering if some of the MRI findings are not good. She did mention about as long as he’s fighting she’ll keep going.
I despise the anthropomorphizing of animals “fighting” to live. Prey animals will continue to try and get up and stay mobile as long as possible. Animals are wired for survival. Overlaying this notion of being a fighter so often allows humans to justify keeping an animals around until it is a shell of a creature in active discomfort.
Thank you for this. I have been wanting to say this but couldn’t do it nicely.
That foal is 5 months old now ? I find this whole thing unbelievably sad. He can’t have any kind of quality of life the way he is.
I see he is standing on his splinted legs in the background while she talks but he looks lifeless, dull eyed and it just makes me sad for the poor thing.
I think this is all about her. She sure seems to enjoy the attention.
I unfortunately watched the video. Insane people think this is cute.
What a pitiful existence for this baby.
Clicks and $$$ are the root of all evil.
Makes my skin crawl. That is all this is about. That poor baby. I saw one video and was shocked and saddend. And yet, here we are.
