Vet recommendations in Ocala for PPE?

As the title says. Suggestions for a good vet to do a sport horse PPE?

i really like Dr. Craig Roberts, he’s a former eventer and a thorough vet for lameness.

I used Dr. Lisa Casinella last winter and was very pleased. She was thorough, accurate, and willing to give real opinions on the likelihood of certain conformation and health issues impacting the proposed job.

Recommend Dr. Michael Porter, www.phdveterinaryservices.com

Dr Omar Maher is based in Wellington for the winter but he makes trips to Ocala as well. He is top notch and super funny to boot! http://www.sporthorsevets.com/

Thanks, all.

MG - Dr Omar Maher did a lot of diagnostic work on my prior horse. He was really very knowledgeable, but it was not a good time for humor.

Second the recommendation for Michael Porter – really good, focuses on sport horses and is now consulting at the Sanctuary in Ocala. He’s super, and I’ve watched him develop over his career and would recommend him without reservation.

Also recommend Dr. Aric Adams at Equine Medical Center of Ocala. But, you will have to keep in mind that Aric tends to be more glass half empty in making evaluations. When he was still at UF, he did a thorough going over of my Buzzy, and basically told me that with legs like he had, I would be better off putting him out to pasture. I was tired after a long exhausting day of hanging around while they went over my boys with fine toothed combs, and I can remember looking up from where I was sitting on the floor and telling him “look, I just spent 5k on two saddles for that horse that I have waited 2 years to buy. Figure out how to fix him.”

Poor guy. But, the good news is that they did – and he went on to event with a BNR and stayed sound.

Dr. Casinella is also good, though I haven’t worked personally with her.

But any of those three will do a great job. If you want to know who to avoid, send me a PM.

I used Dr. Blair from Ocala Equine Hospital. I was remote and he called with his initial findings and then went over the xrays I wanted after the exam was completed. His exam and report were very thorough.

LetItBe

Highly recommend Dr Aric Adams at EMCO

Lisa Castinelli or Jill Copenhagen at Peak Perfoemance!

Dr. Lisa Casinella just did a vetting for a horse I was selling and I thought very highly of her knowledge, demeanor, and how she conducted the vetting, very, very thorough and very fair.

Dr Kevin Harbin just did a vetting for a client’s pre-purchase I’ve been helping arrange from afar and he has been super to work with, excellent set of xrays, and super to work with remotely from a buyer’s perspective.

I second Dr. Craig - he is meticulous!

I like any of the recommendations. Have used Porter and Castinelli before - they both were spot on (bought one horse, did not buy the other but didn’t regret it one bit).

Oh, and I have heard VERY good things about Craig Roberts from others, but have not used him myself, so can’t give you personal experience, just secondhand
