Video, Horse In Sport, Driving

One of the other forums posted a Utube link to the Horse in Sport videos put out in the 1980s. Never made digital, maybe copyright protected. The Driving videos in the series are among the best driving film I have ever seen! Yes old-fashioned, we have changed a lot since then. But for fun viewing I can not recommend them enough!

I can’t seem to post the link, but a Horse In Sport search should turn it up. Driving is multi-sectioned, guess Utube only gives you 30 minutes per clip. We got the video and wore it out back then, got a second tape that has been viewed a lot!!

This video is what got us going with our Four. Also the Cleveland Bay horses. “If they are good enough for Prince Phillip, then they are good enough for us!” was husband’s comment. He had put in his time with our very safe Pair of “learner horses.” One was aging out, so new, younger horses were in our future. He had met a couple of Hunter/Jumper Cleveland Partbreds in his Farrier business, liked their looks and attitude, making them an easy choice.

So take some time to look up the Driving video and enjoy watching. I loved the Hungarians who ride standing with 5 horses!! So cool!! The Polo one is also quite good. I haven’t watched the Eventing one yet, never saw it in the past. The Rodeo one is quite thorough, but slower paced, covering each rodeo event, the people who put things together, the competitors, animals and often hardships, injuries that happen to competitors. Again, old-fashioned compared to now, but interesting.

I watched a couple of the Driving ones from the link posted.
Fun to watch!

The Hungarians reminded me of the Eastern Bloc employees a friend hired for his Carriage business turned Medieval Times-tyoe dinner theater (Noble Horse in Chgo).
These guys performed Vaulting in ways I’d never imagined, outside of a circus

ETA (poor quality) video:

I was the one who posted in the other forum. Agree that, although old, they are pretty good.

Here are the links. Hopefully they work.

Love it, thanks for sharing!

Adding to the thread content, here is a video of a show from some of “our” folks based in Vegas. They do roman riding plus vaulting on the horses concurrently. Also, chariot racing with (of all things) fjords (staged, with mock battles between chariots.) Erik roman rides a 6-up of drafts. They also do roman riding with someone standing on Erik’s shoulders. They do a ton of aerial and silks. etc. work.

Fun bit of trivia - their horses were used in the Netflix movie Rebel Moon.

I saw these when they came out. I don’t really follow driving, but I taped them ALL. But this was the mid 80s, so the tape looks very old now. I am most interested in the eventing video, and I recently tried to pull them up on You Tube, and was unsuccessful. They are very well done, all of them. I still have mine…somewhere…

@Larksmom

Hope these work: (video quality is not very good, but in places it gets better)

I remember that series from way back when, but I’m not gonna lie, THIS was the video that made me decide to add CDE tickets to my order in WEG 2010. It was just a matter of time after that.

Srsly. Kashmir plus marathon. Who could resist?

Thanks for that! I remember watching the driving video, but the only thing I remember about it was the Hungarian driver driving a team on a lunge line in a figure eight! It was unbelievable!
