Vigo d'Arsouilles

WEG Champion who is nominated for the Olympics for Belgium. What’s interesting is that he has a daughter who was nominated to the Olympics for Argentina.

Two generations jumping against each other.

Those of you who tried and were disappointed by the lack of success with Nabab de Reve might want to look at Vigo.

But is Vigo d’Arsouilles available in NA?

We are in the process of getting some here…pm me if anyone is interested, maybe the costs could be shared!!! I have an owner with a mare to breed to him. She is working to get the ball rolling.

Does anyone have any links to pics or pedigree?

I wonder if there have been other instances of father/offspring competing in the same Olympics?

I would love to breed to him!

Here’s a 2010 WEG video (those oxers are wide!), and the owners link

I have a horse by Vigo that we do in the hunters  Great mind and jump

I’m sorry to brag again…
Vigo as his sire Nabab are pure SF by breeding (look at the link posted by Jenbrin) but registered by the BWP and born in Belgium (the Belgium are really smart breeders, much smarter and marketing oriented than the SF breeders)

:yes::yes::yes:

I love the SF and was breeding/registering with them when they had previously been in the US. When the SF pulled out of the US I started registering mine BWP for this very reason. So much SF blood in the BWP registry.

I just bred (yesterday) my SF mare to my KWPN stallion (who does have some SF blood). I am planning on registering her foal BWP

There is a Vigo son here in the US that is available for breeding. Unfortunately, he’s $2500 frozen only. I happen to like him quite a bit but will not shell out that kind of money when I can use a stallion like Catoki, who is proven in sport and shed on a per dose basis. I just don’t get the high prices for US circuit stallions when most are unproven in the shed and some are not even doing anything past 1.40, but I digress.

There are also two Vigo get nominated for the Belgian Eventing Team.

I bred my Vigo mare to Gallarius, (Oldenburg) and got an outstanding filly. The best I have ever had.

Wanted to rekindle the discussion on this stallion. I had read in Horse Magazine that his OCD rating in 2015/16 was the lowest of any KWPN stallion. But, he is moving up the rankings worldwide to 38 YTD.

Any knowledge on the risk of OCD hereditary of Vigo offspring?

For clarification - Vigo is a Belgian Warmblood (BWP) with SF bloodlines - not a KWPN stallion. Regarding OCD risk - OCD is not 100% hereditary, There are other factors that probably have much more to do with risk of it developing in offspring. That being said, he is a big horse. Big, growthy offspring may be more prone to developing OCD lesions, however, proper nutrition and turnout can go a long way to mitigate these risks.

My For Pleasure x Darco mare is in foal to Vigo for 2019. We sent her to Brabander’s (Stal de Muze) for breeding on sight (still AI but fresh as Vigo was collected right then and there). She settled on first attempt but I’ve heard horror stories from other disappointed breeders who could not get a pregnancy with him. In fact, my contract was for 3 attempts then another of Brabander’s stallions would be used at no additional cost. Luckily, that wasn’t necessary.

Vigo D’Arsouilles does have a lot of SF blood, but his damline is BWP. He is registered BWP and licensed BWP with BWP Ambassador status.

His son Vagabond de la Pomme’s straws are available in NA. Vagabond was the inspiration for using Vigo with my mare.

This is and the Nabab info is so very helpful! Thank You!
