Viva Voltaire

Does anyone know where Viva Voltaire is now? Last I see is in Canada. This picture was posted and then deleted (yeah I’d delete it too) and he doesn’t appear to be doing so well but I don’t know if there is a medical reason or not. I don’t want to hear that he’s old. Old is not a disease. Either find out if something is wrong and treat it or euthanize or fix his feeding program to make him look good again.

I saw that photo before it was deleted, too. Unless the angle was wildly exaggerating his condition…it’s not good. :frowning:

He’s at Charlot Farm in Stratford, ON. He’s 27, retired, and TBH most warmbloods are not around at that age so I’d say he must have some good genetics for hardiness. I saw him ~5 years ago in the stable when I was there to pick up and gave him a snuggle. He was pleasant and friendly and was looking like an older gentleman. I’d rather see a pic of a loved older stallion living out his days of retirement received with understanding that a 27yr old isn’t going to look like a 5 yr old in his prime. Keeping older horses isn’t always easy, let alone a stallion.

The photo I saw was not “just” a healthy old horse. If it wasn’t distorted due to the angle, the horse is in very bad shape.

I haven’t seen a picture, but this is very sad to hear.

Yeah this horse is borderline emaciated. If he is too ill to keep weight on that should be addressed one way or the other. My horse was 25 and I had to keep her on a diet before the nieghboir’s bees killed her. I know people who do nothing but care for old horses, some very old horses, and none of them look like that.
