Does anyone have one? What do you think of it? I absolutely love my Palm Beach but it isn’t fitting my horse well and I think the shoulder relief on the Blue Infinite will work better for my horse.
I think I tried this one earlier this year (the one that came out in DEC or Jan). I ended up liking the Calgary the most, but buying a Palm Beach as I couldn’t locate a Calgary that would work for both my horse and I (to give you perspective on my preferences). I absolutely did not like the Blue Infinite. To me, it felt like it rode deep but open (but not open in the way a flat seat rides as I prefer the flat seats) and placed me further back with my leg in front of me, unlike the PB or Calgary. It has a wider twist, IIRC. I’ve not sat in many saddles I outright dislike (I’m either indifferent or like them) but this was a definite dislike for me. The seat sizing is also different than the other models: it runs large.
I didn’t notice a huge difference in my horse who has massive shoulders. Standing in the cross ties it seemed to fit well, but I didn’t notice a huge difference undersaddle. If I remember correctly, the rep said they could do the same panel on a new Calgary if I went that route which may be an option for you.
Definitely sit in one, even if just for how it rides for you before deciding. It’s a much different feel than the PB.
I have one coming to me soon for my new guy. It’s sort of a mix between the Stuttgart and Palm Beach, but it really is a jumper saddle. I have a Stuttgart for my older guy that fits him perfectly, and I love it. I do the jumpers with both horses and sit to the jumps so the Stuttgart has been wonderful. It fits my older guy with just a square pad underneath. I had it repaneled last year because he’s filled out since I got it several years ago, but it’s always been a good saddle for us both.
My new horse is not quite as semi-truck, tube-like in his conformation as my other one so my saddle is a bit too wide. I’ve been using the Voltaire halfpad successfully while I wait for his new saddle. The seat in the Blue is not quite as deep as the Stuttgart and the saddle definitely feels a bit more close contact, but again, it’s a jumper saddle and I felt very secure in it. Both of my horses are big movers and the Blue demo moved with my new little dude really, really well. He’s been fine with the Stuttgart and halfpad, but in my test ride he felt even more free in his shoulder and back and his usual crazy bouncy, round jump was even better, if possible.
I loved it and I can’t wait to get it. The demo fit so perfectly on him I basically bought the exact same thing- pro panels, like my other saddle, full buffalo, etc. The technology part of it isn’t at all important to me, but I think it will be fun. I care more about the fit for my horse and not being jumped out of the tack, which is what happens on both horses when the saddle doesn’t fit!
It felt closer contact than the old Blue Wing, but my horse hated it so much I didn’t get much of a feel for it. I ordered a Stuttgart with wide free that hopefully will be shipped soon.
Little update: I got my Blue Infinite yesterday and rode in it today. I love it and it fits my little guy perfectly. We had a pretty intensive flat lesson and it fit him the way my Stuttgart fits my big guy: comfortable and balanced. I also love that I don’t need anything but one of his BoT pads under it. I’ve gotten spoiled with my other horse and didn’t like having to use a halfpad with new little kid. It’s also gorgeous, and I like that they engraved his name on the back.
I am still figuring out the Equisense thingy but I’m going to try to record a session tomorrow when I ride, so we will see, but so far it’s exactly what I wanted.
That’s good to hear! What do you think of the twist? I’m worried it will be too wide for me. Also, which leather did you get?
It’s a bit wider than my Stuttgart, but I am very, very narrow-hipped–think teenage boy–and it is quite comfortable. I got full buffalo.
