Voltaire saddles with "second skin" option?

Just got one in on trial and the saddle looks lovely but I was surprised at how thin the “second skin” flap was. Do you love it? Hate it? It will be interesting to see if I notice a big difference. Have you noticed it causing and discomfort when tightening the girth? Does it seem to hold up like a normal sweat flap? Thanks all!

Anyone?

I really like mine. I initially did not get the second skin option but then opted for it when they re-made my saddle for me. It’s actually not much thinner than their normal sweat flap, just softer and more pliable.

It doesn’t cause any issues for me. I ride at least 5 days/week. Sometimes more, sometimes less. And occasionally 1-3 of those days I am riding more than one horse. I have had my saddle since 2014 and it still looks great. I definitely feel closer to the horse and the Voltaire saddles are the lightest saddles I have had (devoucoux, Butet, Antares, Crosby, borrowed at CWD).

I love love love mine
My voltaire is my favorite saddle, and I’ve got a CWD, TC, and Antares in the tack room as well.
I don’t see any issues for me or my horse with the second skin, and I do appreciate the saddle giving me a lovely close-contact feel with my horse. I’ve been using it ~5x rides a week for well over a year, and don’t have any different wear than I do with my other tack. I’m a huge fan.

I haven’t noticed that mine is any less durable than a regular sweat flap and I love the close feel it offers!

Thanks everyone! I’m excited to sit in this one tonight.
