I have taken on running the horse program at Camp Holiday Trails in Charlottesville, Virginia this summer. We are short on volunteers to help with introducing these awesome kids to horses! CHT is a summer camp for children with special medical needs, it is a really amazing place.
Wednesday of this week we were able to help a 200 pound, wheel chair bound teenage boy ride a horse for the first time in his life. Later in the day he told one of the camp counselors that it had been the best day of his life because he got to ride a horse (something he did not think he would ever be able to do). If you are in the Charlottesville area and have some spare time this summer please consider helping out.
