Wade Light Diamond M McCall Saddle

Hello, anyone have experience with the Diamond M McCall Saddle?

I ride dressage and I am looking to play around western, possibly western dressage and trail ride. Have not had a western saddle I loved since my McPherson, circa 1984.

The cowboy that helps me with my horse occasionally has a wade style, can’t remember the maker, and I have sat in it several times and love it.

I went all in on my dressage saddle, so I am looking for something more economical. The Diamond M is from McCall, I talked to them today. It’s their low end, light weight… but it’s overseas manufacturing and I am hesitating. It’s a case of too good to be true.

It has not been out but a few years, so I have not been able to find any reviews. There are not really any for sale on eBay.

Thanks in advance for any input.

I tried a McCall and when I did some up close inspection of it I was really disappointed in the craftsmanship. Not symmetrical, weird afterthought shimming, just a real bummer. And that was not the “low end” model. I wouldn’t buy one and you can find lots of them used.

Gee I wasn’t aware they had a line that they imported. I have a McCall Wade made in Vernal that’s about 7 years old and I found it to be well made. It’s a little big for me, with a 16 inch seat, but it fits the hard to fit gelding beautifully so I’ve kept it, as it also fits my football player son well. I’ve seen a couple of the Lady Wades, lighter weight, and they seemed good too.

I have it on trial… We will see.

What did you think of the Diamond M saddle? Which did you try the wade or the allround?

Tried it. Rode it. Loved it. Bought it. ?? Horse loved it too. Sue actually feels better, looser and more forward than my dressage saddle.

I got the wade tree. Not the all around. I love it.
