Wahl show pro plus clippers - blades crooked? Huh?

I don’t have a picture but I’ll describe it.

I use these for legs/face when I body clip. I body clip a lot of horses, probably 15-20 a year. I have big clippers for body, these little ones for line work and sensitive areas.

The little ones are newer and don’t get used as much since I do a lot of clips that don’t need legs or face, plus I care well for my stuff. Frequent oil, cleaned and sanitized after clips, motor cleaned and oiled every couple goes. Blades sharp, stored oiled and clean.

When I use them sometimes the noise changes to a softer hum and stops clipping. Blades are still moving but not clipping. If I thwack the clippers hard, they’ll work again.

I think it’s an alignment issue, because sometimes the blades look crooked when I stop the motor. Not just a little crooked either, but several millimeters off. I took the blades off, cleaned and realigned everything to factory default. No go. Changed back to my usual tension and whatnot, no go. New blades? Bought like 5 sets, all don’t work, but the measurements inside the clippers with the holders and whatnot are the same, even when running.

Tension is good, power good, aligned properly and all screwed in right, I use the recommended blades and the same oil brand.

Any ideas? Or suck it up and buy new clippers?

They only do it while clipping, but I’ll try and get a video/picture tonight if I can.

I have the same issue with mine and it’s been going on years now. It’s been through four different sets. All of them have had this issue. Try changing blades and everything they’ll still stop midclip. Given when and where this is happening I believe, at least in my case, dirt is getting stuck in them and stopping them from working properly. Normally if I run them for a few minutes they start working properly again. It always happens when I’m doing the face of the horse that doesn’t like getting her face cleaned or the pony who’s coat is so think you can’t get it all cleaned ahead of time.

I have this problem with mine too. Or at least similar. I will be fine, get through most of the job, and then they start slipping. I thought it was just a loose screw so I replaced it, but it still happens.

Does dipping them in blade cleaner work? I always have that around due to fungus issues in almost all the horses I clip.

I think anything the gets rid of any dirt fixes it. I have spray cool/clean stuff and that normally gets them going again just fine.

I have the same problem with these too! I found that if you move the blade up and down (since they are adjustable) it helps temporarily.
I’d still like to know the real problem, though. I’m interested to see what others have to say.
