Want to split a load of timothy/orch/alfalfa in SC

I would like to get about 100 bales of a timothy/orch/alfalfa mix delivered to SC. I need someone to go in with me though b/c the trailer load has about 750 bales on it. I got some earlier this summer and have loved it- it’s beautiful hay, analyzed at ~18% protein and is approx 50% grass (timothy/orchard) and 50% alfalfa. My horses love it. Any takers? I am in Greenville, SC. He is willing to deliver to 2 locations in the upstate/surronding areas. It is $7.50/bale.

I wish I could but my horses always leave the timothy hay when I try to feed them anything with Timothy in it!

Even my pickiest vacuum this stuff up, they think its gourmet! What part of SC are you in? I’d be happy to let you try a few bales and see if they like it.

I am between Blythewood and Winnsboro. I would be happy to come buy a couple of bales if you have some now. You can email me at bpierce@murphygrantland.com

I would be happy to take several hundred bales but we are all the way down in Charleston.

I can ask him if he would do 2 stops. I know he goes to the fancy barn in Bluffton. Not sure how it would effect the price.

If my horses would eat it I would take a couple hundred bales, but I would have to try it first. I have an older horse who colics easily and brome and orchard are about the best for him. I am willing to buy a couple of bales to try. I can come to Greenville to pick it up and if they eat it can bring a trailer to get a load.

I’m interested if you are still looking for someone to help split the load up.Any idea what amount $$ we are thinking it will be? What is the price per bale? I am located in Springfield, right outside of Aiken.

…sorry, I see where you posted it is $7.50 a bale. That’s great! I am currently paying close to $12 a bale for similar hay! Please let me know if you are interested in me taking 100 or so bales off your hands.

we just sent a fancy load of 3x3x8’s to Camden and will go twice to myrtle beach this week from here

is hay short there ??

It is not that it is short supply so much, but that it is hard to find good quality for a reasonable price. I was buying a great timothy hay from MI and spliting with a couple of other barns. It was great hay and only $7.50 per bale. I had to unload and stack it myself. I was at the mercy of several other barns and that made logistics hard. I need to find a reliable source of hay, It can be timothy, or a mix of timothy or orchard grass with various amounts of Alfalfa. I am really not too picky except it has to be good. I am getting a load from Aiken tomorrow but I need a steady supply delivered to Charleston through out the winter.

how much do they weigh?

about 65lbs? I think?

I agree, good hay is very hard to come by in SC. My husband and I drive to North carolina to pick up loads of Orchard/Alfalfa and also Brome when he can get it. We are almost to the point of going to Kansas ourselves to find a good load of Brome. We have a horse that can’t eat fine stemmed hay and he does really well on Brome and some Orchard/alfalfa. In my area people tout having excellent Timothy or Alfalfa and they are not good quality. Coastal hay is everywhere but at the same price as we can go to NC and pick up great hay!

If you’re still looking for someone to go in with you I would love to buy a bale or two off of you and see if my guys like it. They aren’t too picky, and if they like it I would buy some!

Right now I am probably just going to get a load of orchard/alfalfa from a hay dealer in Aiken until we either find the time to go get a load or find someone that can split one. I will keep you posted as to what we do and if we do get some in I will be happy to give you a bale or two to try. Thanks

I just saw this and would be willing to share a load [325 bales?] I am located in NC but very close to the SC border at Pageland SC. Just let me know!
