Warmblood Approved Arabian Stallions?

Does anyone know of Warmblood approved Arabian stallions? I’ve got a list started of Warmblood approved Arabian stallions, but I know it has some massive holes in it. Also, any past stallions that got approved but their owner’s did not keep up with paying to keep their stallion’s status active or their own membership active would be great to add to the list. Could even be ones that have passed away, but have frozen semen available.

Thanks in advance!

Interested in following this. I am currently working with a young stallion that is working towards approval. He has a lovely mind, is a great mover and a fantastic jumper. Name is Legacy Obsidian if you care to look him up. He was granted a breeding permit for Old/ISR last year and the resulting foal was inspected and registered last month.

Bonne Vivant is aproved GOV/OHBS. He’s Polish… lovely mover. Tuxedo Thyme is approved Westfalen NA - also polish and a lovely mover. Both look suitable if you were hoping for a dressage prospect.

FCF Oberon’s Vanity is approved Westfalen NA, and maybe more registries now. He’s Crabbet and really neat. Scored well on his 70 day test and is out competing in dressage now. His owner posts on this forum and can definitely offer lots of info.

KB Omega Fahim competed up to Grand Prix dressage. He is approved for Shagya breeding (NASS), but I’m not sure about other Warmblood registries. It might be possible to get breeding approval though based on his performance - you just would want to call and discuss in advance. I believe he’s Egyptian, but I might be wrong. I also saw video and photos online a little while ago of an Anglo Arab offspring of his jumping - looked like a fun, lovely little horse. Otherwise, Elain Kerrigan has lots of pictures and information on her site regarding babies out of Shagya mares. It looks like in general he produces some nice crosses.

Starwalker, a Shagya stallion, was approved for ATA many years ago. I’m not sure that he is still “active” in terms of status… I don’t think so. Frozen is available, but he is deceased.

Those are the immediate ones who come to mind.

I would love to know of other names as well

Thanks so much! Did not have Starwalker on my list and forgot about KB Omega Fahim.

Definitely looking to produce something that can do hunters and go up to 3rd or 4th level dressage. The mares we have have a wonderful jump (hunter form) so don’t want to loose that.

This was my list so far:

RPSI: Soleil CA+, FCF Oberons Vanity
Westfalen NA / RPSI Stud Book 1, The Oldenburg Horse Breeders’ Society (A Division of the Oldenburger Pferdezuchtverband e.V.), Oldenburg Registry ISR - North America: Tuxedo Thyme ABA++++//
Oldenburg: Bonne Vivant++++//
SBS-N.A. Studbook “The Belgian Sport Horse”: Mojave Kid++++//
Dansk Varmblod (Danish Warmblood Horse Breeding Society): Zonyx
Oldenburg, Hannover, Trakehner: IS Orlow

Others I found that were approved:
SGF Ahmour - lifetime Rheinland Pfalz-Saar International. Also did the 70 day Stallion Test.
Saint Sandro+++/ (Half Arabian) Did the 70 day North American Stallion Test.
Taez - approved ISR/Oldenburg NA & Trakehner
Legion VF - Rheinland-Pfalz-Saar
OKW Entrigue+++// - I think he was Oldenburg at one point.
Shahwan GASB - deceased but Trakehner. Pretty sure there’s still frozen semen available

I should have remembered this guy:
Aul Magic - deceased - says frozen semen available - Trakehner

Other Inactive Ones:
Al-Marah Quebec - Trakehner
TF Perons Brilliance - Trakehner - Half Arabian

Oberons Vanity scored really very well in his testing. He scored well for any horse, but those scores are truly exceptional for an Arabian doing a warmblood-focused sport test. I believe he scored high enough to meet expectations for everything but Hanoverian (who require a much higher score for stallions not Hanoverian by birth registry). I wonder why he isn’t approved by more than just RPSI (now Westfalen-NA). Perhaps his owners didn’t care to present him to any other registry?

SGF Ahmour is not actually Book 1 approved for RPSI. Only for their riding pony book. So if you breed an approved Warmblood mare to him, you can either pursue riding pony papers for a foal, or a Warmblood COP and approval to the Pre Mare book 2 for RPSI/Westfalen.

He did complete the 70 day test and is a really nice stallion… But the way the website words his approval status is confusing, in my opinion. He is only approved for the Riding Pony book.

If you are interested in producing Arab crosses for hunters who still have a nice jump… DEFINITELY look at Oration. I am not sure if he has any approvals, and he is a French Arab. But I have seen LOVELY video of him. And I believe there is a West Coast breeder who has used him for Warmblood crosses… GoldenOaks maybe?

Otherwise, FCF Oberon’s Vanity would be at the very top of the list if I were you. Looks like Dawn J L posted on this thread too. He’s such a neat boy and I think it’s awesome he’s done stallion testing, scored well, and is now going on to a performance dressage career. It’s fun to follow what’s happening with him.

I didn’t know we were including 1\2 Arabs  There is a REALLY interesting young Arab Trakehner stallion in Germany… Gabun. Approved for Trakehner and I think he was recently approved for something else too… Maybe Westfalen. Frozen is available to US breeders via SES. Looks like he can jump well, and will probably produce a blingy foal.

There’s also Signal Bey from Allanglos. He’s definitely suitable for hunter breeding. I’m not sure if he has been approved by any of the Warmblood registries, but he’s another you might be able to get approval for on a case by case basis. He has competed, has lots of offspring out there, and very nice bloodlines.

Is Taez still alive and breeding? I thought he had passed away for some reason. If so, is there frozen available from him?

Is IS Orlow available frozen to US breeders? He’s very interesting!

What is Zaki Emir doing? Is he approved anywhere? COTH introduced him to me years ago.

Zonyx?

Oberon’s Vanity? (paging @Dawn J-L – oops, looks like she popped in already … )

Oration?

One more… Tristtan. I believe he was approved AWR a few years back. Not sure if he is still available for breeding.

His direct sire line is to Fetysz. He might be one of the only Arabs still alive with a direct line to Fetysz… Really neat.

Thanks to so many of you for the kind words about my Obie!

I had intended to also post a list of the other stallions that I knew of, but ever since the forum upgrade every one of my posts gets caught in the filter so I get an “unapproved” notice and have to wait until the next day to see my posts appear. This makes participating in the conversation frustrating because the information in the post is often obsolete or at least duplicated by the time the post appears. So I opted to just offer some of the details on my own guy. :frowning:

(Since all of the stallions I was going to list have been mentioned by others, my instinct was right!)

epowers asked, “I wonder why he isn’t approved by more than just RPSI (now Westfalen-NA). Perhaps his owners didn’t care to present him to any other registry?”

That’s exactly why.

I sent Obie to the test mostly to demonstrate that an Arabian could score respectably in that format. Getting studbook approvals was not the point for me. My partner in sending Obie to the test bred in RPSI so we presented him to RPSI. Most of the Arabian stallions approved for WB studbooks get almost no breedings in the WB registries so I didn’t see any point in spending thousands more dollars for other approvals. (FWIW, a few other registries expressed interest in Obie so he mostly likely would have been approved in other registries if I had presented him.)

@Dawn J-L - that makes total sense.

I think it’s great you have him competing in USDF shows, not simply the Arabian circuit. Nothing against the Arabian shows… it just gives a mare owner interested in outcrossing a little more “perspective.” Hopefully with time, moving up the levels, and a good program he will earn wider recognition/approval.

The fact that he did so well during stallion testing - really really impressive. So many people automatically write off Arabs when it comes to jumping. His stallion testing is a great data point

Please update when the 2018 crop of foals comes along. I’m super curious about any Anglo Arabs from him.

A show buddy of mine was able to get a one time approval from the Oldenburg registry for Mojave Kid. I have no idea how that works (I have 2 geldings!) but the resulting foal was inspected and accepted. She was also the only Premium foal at the inspection. So bottom line: this might be a path for a stallion with sport horse potential but who didn’t go through testing.

eta: sorry didn’t read closely enough above & now notice you have him listed. But still an interesting approach for another stallion
