Man, this thread is making people absolutely lose their minds.
Tbh there’s no particularly good reason to keep beating this dead horse over and over.
As to the possibility of outright batch contamination with the testing - somewhat unlikely since they tested all the horses in quarantine (there were what, about 20?) who got stuck together with Waffles. None of them popped positive.
Coanteen, not sure if this has been addressed previously, as you seem quite knowledgeable on the subject, what are your thoughts regarding the others testing negative and “waffles” remaining positive. Apologies if this has been discussed earlier. Thanks.
Sounds more like you use your family member to get indignant.
Tbh there’s no particularly good reason you needed to jump in now and take an additional deliberate shot at me personally.
But hey - go right ahead and pile on with the whole “you really need to stop beating that dead horse over and over” line… while you proceed to do the same thing.
Actually, it’s family members. Plural. Multiple generations, who have served in multiple branches, in multiple wars.
Well, people need to be dramatic SOMEWHERE now that yet another Barisone thread is closed
I also mentioned that batch contamination is unlikely in my previous post, but our resident “PhD and postdoc from Harvard” put us in our place pretty much by only mentioning her credentials and supporting her opinion with her opinions about a weird batch of antibodies, rather than presenting scientific facts. Harvard must be so proud.
ETA if RileysMom really did work in an academic lab at some point in her life, it would make sense that she doesn’t understand all of the many, many controls that are in place in GMP labs, and what controls, testing, and reporting structures are in place to ensure that the tests are performed to established standards. Academia is totally self governed, and it is hugely eye opening to move from an academic lab to a GMP lab that is subject to regular, unscheduled (in other words, surprise) inspections from any and all global Health Authority organizations that receive your pharmaceutical product. Academic labs are like spending your day on a playground compared to GMP labs.
Breathe in, stretch, and release.
I think poor Waffles is most like cross-reacting. Meaning he had something going on, mildly (he had a fever for like a day), and whatever it is happens to be pinging on the glanders test. This test is very sensitive, but it’s not extremely specific to only glanders - there are some other known organisms it can react positively to.
That makes the most sense to me, since a. the horse had some kind of (mild, self-limited) issue, and b. he’s been consistently positive.
That or he’s a sub-clinical glanders carrier, but that’s unlikely given his origin, and the test should (I think) be giving higher results if he were. And the eleventy WBs would be positive.
I think Virginia Horse Mom is moments away from asking to speak to a manager.
Good Lord. Give it a rest. And by all means please STOP HATE STALKING PEOPLE ON FACEBOOK AND THEN COMING HERE TO TRASH THEM. You do this over and over AND OVER. What example are you setting for your child (or is mom just a monicker?). This behavior says WAY more about you than any of the people you have targeted and trashed in an ongoing manner.
You are are a real piece of work. And to your point we can simply agree to disagree.
Carry on with your bad self…
Presumably the child is a horse. Or perhaps VHM is herself the horse?
I guess I could create an alter named “Karen” and continue to argue with you all about this…
apparently they are doing another CFT on the horse. Hopefully it will be zero this time.
For those who are interested, I checked the trainer’s Facebook page* and there are no new updates.
Still Jingling for Waffles and his kid.
*Disclaimer, I did not stalk anyone to find anything. We were told there are updates on the trainer’s page, that the trainer wanted all this information to get out and spread and the trainer’s name was clearly posted in this thread.
Laughed out loud! Was starting to get majorly creeped out by the direction this thread took. Thanks for the giggle
I hope the CFT will be zero this time. I will admit I am losing hope.
Fingers crossed for the results. If the horse is still standing there anyway, they might as well keep running the test on him. The cost has to be a drop in the bucket compared to everything else at this point.
I’ve lost track by this time. Does he just need to have one clear test to get out of there?
That is what I believe from reading this thread.
If there is anything to be learned from this thread, it is to be sure to run the USDA-approved tests on imports while they are still in Europe! Using a different test for a disease can lead to a world of heartbreak and expense.
